Golden Globes viewers make important point about presenter Nikki Glaser’s opening monologue

Golden Globes viewers make important point about presenter Nikki Glaser’s opening monologue

The comedian is the first ever solo woman to host the awards show

Golden Globes viewers have made an important point about presenter Nikki Glaser’s opening monologue.

Last year, Jo Koy hosted the prestigious awards ceremony and, let's just say, he definitely ruffled some feathers following accusations of sexism.

So, people were intrigued to see how Glaser would fare in the role as the first ever solo woman to host the awards show.

Kicking things off with a bang, Glaser began by taking a swipe about Wicked's Ariana Grande and Cynthia Erivo's viral 'holding space' interview - something which clearly went down a treat with fans at home.

One viewer tweeted: "Nikki Glaser devoured and left no crumbs with that opening monologue."

"Nikki Glaser kind of absolutely annihilating her monologue. incredible presence, perfect pacing, knows how to roast people and be tongue-in-cheek without being obnoxious and offensive", another said.

A third X user penned: "Finally a host that doesn’t have to make misogynistic jokes for a few cheap laughs."

"I loved how she tackled topics like dating, sex, and relationships in a way that was both funny and insightful. She's definitely one of the funniest women in comedy, and I'm so glad she got to share her talents with the world tonight," praised a fourth.

Another echoed: "THAT is how you do a monologue as the first ever solo woman given the job in Golden Globes history."

And a final X user added: "The comedian of a generation!"

Later on in the evening, Glaser made a hilariously savage joke about Selena Gomez and Benny Blanco.

The loved-up couple could be seen up on the big screen as comedian Glaser noted Gomez's nominations.

"Selena Gomez is here," she began. "A double nominee tonight for Emilia Perez and Only Murders [In The Building], and she's here tonight with her new fiancé Benny Blanco.

"And Benny Blanco is here because of the genie that granted that wish. Man, lucky guy."

The pair clearly took the joke well with Gomez miming that she was in the lucky one of the two, while music producer Blanco simply laughed and kissed his soon-to-be-bride on the shoulder.

Fans have since rushed to social media to share their reactions on the situ with one X user writing: "Selena Gomez’s fiancé, Benny Blanco, getting roasted at this year’s #GoldenGlobes was the best part of show."

"Selena and Benny bracing for impact bc they knew Nikki was gonna roast them," a second piped up.

A third then quipped: "Omg not a Selena Gomez and Benny Blanco joke omg."

"At least Selena and Benny were laughing at the joke," praised another.
