'Hawk Tuah' girl reveals her real name as she breaks silence on viral video

The Nashville resident who last month became the subject of one of this year's most viral moments, after making a rather NSFW admission about her bedroom antics, has broken her silence on the controversial clip.

The racy confession evidently came as such a shock to the billions of viewers that watched the YouTube video, that she's even earned herself a hilarious new nickname and is now recognised across the globe as the 'Hawk Tuah girl'.

Since then, a plethora of questions have been raised by viewers regarding the online icon's real identity - especially after rumours began swirling that she'd been fired from her job as a teacher.

Who is the 'Hawk Tuah girl', and why is she famous?

The southern belle's face is now recognised worldwide after she and her gal pals were approached on a night out by a couple of social media stars, asking Tennessee party-goers a range of questions, including 'what makes a man go crazy [in bed] every time'.

Whilst I imagine the majority of us would go rather red-faced if asked this pretty explicit question in public, this internet icon grabbed the opportunity with both hands, and her eyebrow-raising response has since kept viewers in shock.

That's because her came along with the impression of someone - rather noisily - preparing to spit.

"You gotta give ’em that ‘hawk tuah’ and spit on that thang, you get me?" she told content creators Tim & Dee TV, before erupting into a laughing fit.

What happened after the clip went viral?

In the days after the clip was posted - accumulating millions of views within a matter of hours - as we say, countless questions were since about who the online legend really was, and what repercussions she could face as a result of her x-rated confession.

The most startling of speculation came after one social media post claimed that 'Hawk Tuah girl' had since been fired from her job, being that she was reportedly a 'pre-school teacher'.

The rumour was even accompanied by an apparent 'statement' from the school, which read: "We have kids spitting on each other and everything else since they heard their beloved [teacher] say 'spit on that thang' on YouTube."

It was also subsequently reported that the social media star had launched her very own line of merchandise, all of which bore her hilariously erotic slogan.

But who is she really?

Thankfully, however, in the last 24 hours, the woman behind the 'Hawk Tuah' admission has finally set the record straight on many the concerns the clip has raised.

It turns out, the online star's real name is actually Haliey Welch and that she is a 21-year-old Nashville local.

Speaking to podcaster Brianna LaPaglia on her popular Plan Bri Uncut show, the blonde beauty lived up to her iconic internet 'southernness', sitting down to chat in a colossal cowboy hat, white glittered cowboy boots, and showing off her delicious Tennessee twang.

I mean, what a legend.

When it came to shedding light on the rumours about what fate befell her after the clip went viral, Haliey first of all confirmed that she had in fact been making a pretty big fortune off selling merchandise, after a local vendor approached her about a potential collab.

She then went on to reveal that she is most definitely not a school teacher, and actually works in a spring factory.

"I'm not even old enough to be a teacher," Haliey told listeners.

And as for how her parents dealt with the whole ordeal? She said: "They think it's so funny. They know how I am, because you can never tell what's going to come out of my mouth.

"I mean, it's a hit or a miss what comes out of my mouth. I just...talk out of my ass."
