Fans of US musician Jessica Simpson have been left baffled by one element of the star's latest social media upload.
Taking to Instagram, the 44-year-old 'With You hit-maker shared a photo alongside her mother, Tina, yesterday (19 January) whom she wished a very happy 65th birthday.
The photo in question saw the pair posing beside one another, with blonde bombshell Jessica on the left - donning a bohemian-esque button-down floral dress and her golden tresses styled perfectly in a lengthy wave.

Tina, meanwhile, opted for a dark, smokey-eye look, which she paired with a chiffon embellished pearl mesh dress.
"Happy Birthday to my Mommy - the giver of abundance, love, passion, and purpose," Jessica penned in a lengthy caption.
"Your light is the brightest of all-assembled by the multitudes of your individual blessings that create iridescent and unique sparks!
"Not only does your glow make you shine, but there is an honesty within your heart that gives truth to divine ambition and a courageous certainty that represents how passion can lead to unparalleled greatness."

The caption went on to thank her mother for guiding her as her 'first born', and crediting her 'inventiveness', 'confidence', 'determination', 'responsibility', 'commitment' and 'integrity'.

As we say, however, one aspect of the sweet mother-daughter snap has confused Simpson's fans: Tina's appearance.
By the sound of the comments left below the snap, Simpson's followers don't seem to recognise the mother-of-two - who is also mum to the singer's younger sister Ashlee.

It turns out that Tina often opts for a significantly more low-key aesthetic whenever her A-list daughter shares a photo of her online - tending to wear minimal make-up, and a natural wave in her hair.
Naturally, therefore, Tina's full glam and heavy eye make-up has come somewhat of a shock to many fans, with many even going as far as to claim they didn't recognise her in the picture.
"Is your mom in the room with us? Who is this?" one follower wrote.
Another asked: "Who is that? Does not look like her mom."

"Omg that looks nothing like Tina," a third noted, before another went on to tease: "Huh? Is her mom taking the picture?"
One of her fans even questioned whether or not the caption was a mistake, and that the image uploaded actually showed the youngest Simpson sister, Ashlee.
Another fan wrote: "I honestly thought it was @ashleesimpsonross! You guys sre so pretty!"

Jessica, 44, gushed over her mom in her lengthy birthday message, which did not include any mention of the matriarch’s seemingly changed appearance.
“I love to love you, make you proud, hug you and work alongside you each and every day for eternity!” the 'Take My Breath Away' songstress concluded.
