On 6 September, they confirmed it in a joint statement after Joe filed for divorce in Miami Dade County, Florida.
Shared to social media, it reads: “After four wonderful years of marriage we have mutually decided to amicably end our marriage.
"There are many speculative narratives as to why but, truly this is a united decision, and we sincerely hope that everyone can respect our wishes for privacy for us and our children."
Filing documents seen by the Daily Mail, Today.com and TMZ say that their relationship between both parties ‘is irretrievably broken’.

However, since the star couple confirmed their ‘united decision’ to separate, reports have continued with claims about their behaviour that led to it.
But Joe seemingly wanted to take the time to shut down the rumours flying round online about the pair’s separation during the concert.
The singer said to the adoring crowd at the Dodger Stadium: “It’s been a tough week. I just want to say, that if you don’t hear it from these lips don’t believe it. Ok?”

Back in 2020, he said during the band's documentary, Chasing Happiness, that the song was a 'promise to Sophie'.
"It’s like my vows before I wrote my vows." he said.
The couple first started dating back in 2016 and got engaged the following year. They married in Las Vegas before having another ceremony a few months later in France.
Their two daughters, whose lives they keep private, were born in 2020 and 2022.
