Good Morning Britain fans were left alarmed yesterday after news broke that presenter Kate Garraway's seriously ill husband Derek Draper was 'fighting for his life'.
Former politician Derek, 56, contracted Covid-19 back in 2020 and has faced life-threatening complications ever since.
As well as previously being put into a medically-induced coma, the father-of-one has been readmitted to hospital on multiple occasions for the likes of kidney failure, brain inflammation and liver damage.

And yesterday (Tuesday 19 December), The Sun reported that the father-of-two had suffered a 'massive heart attack which has left him fighting for his life all over again'.
An insider is said to have told them: "Everyone is praying for a miracle.
"It was sudden and a shock as he had been doing so well and was in great spirits, looking forward to Christmas at home with the family.

"This setback has been a huge blow for his family and all the people caring for him."
Since contracting Covid-19, Derek has been receiving around the clock care from both a medical team and his ITV star wife, Kate, also 56.
She told Loose Women viewers during a guest appearance back in November: "He's actually back in the hospital at the moment.
"I haven't talked about this, but not the horrific drama fortunately, because there have been lots of referrals and cancellations."

The GMB host has since reportedly cancelled all upcoming TV and radio work to keep a 24/7 vigil by his bedside.
The insider continued: "Derek has fought so many times, and always, against all odds, come out the other side.
"Kate has been utterly incredible — by his side while being an amazing mum to Darcey and Billy, and trying to manage their expectations of a family Christmas."

And one of Kate's close pals and fellow presenters, Smooth FM Breakfast host Jenni Falconer, this morning gave an update on the ex-lobbyist, telling listeners 'it doesn't look like he's in a good way'.
"On behalf of everyone here at Smooth we’re sending lots of love and Smooth best wishes to our very own Kate Garraway," she gushed on the radio show.
"Kate’s husband Derek as we all know has been struggling with long-lasting damage since he suffered from Covid and it doesn’t look good at the moment, it doesn’t look like he’s in a good way.

"So we’re sending lots of love to Kate, Derek and the family… especially at this time of the year."
Tyla has contacted Kate's representatives following The Sun's report.
