In a celebrity rarity, actress Kate Hudson has this week made a rather controversial admission about her personal hygiene, revealing that co-star and close friend Matthew McConaughey is guilty of the same habit.
The duo have worked together on countless occasions in the past, having first come face-to-face when cast as leading love interests in 2003 rom-com How To Lose A Guy in 10 Days.
In the years that followed, Kate, now 45, and Matthew, 54, remained dear friends, often being papped catching up at high-profile events and on A-list red carpets.

They also worked closely along each other when subsequently filming 2008's comedy-action hit Fool's Gold.
In fact, the star-studded duo became so close whilst on set, that they became slightly too over-accustomed to one another's smells, being that they famously avoid deodorant at all costs.
And whilst Kate this week claimed that other hygiene habits allow her to escape being branded a particularly smelly star, Matthew hasn't quite garnered the same reputation.

So much so, that during an appearance on Watch What Happens Live with Andy Cohen this week, the mother-of-three claimed she often caught a whiff of Matthew 'from a mile away'.
"Was that old urban legend true that you forced Matthew McConaughey to wear deodorant while filming Fool’s Gold?" presenter Andy asked as he read a fan-submitted question.
"No. He doesn’t wear deodorant," she explained. "And by the way, I don’t either."

A seemingly embarrassed Kate continued: "My thing was, I could smell him from - because we were so close! He's, you know, we're au naturale."
Whilst the Bride Wars actress remained rather tight-lipped about her reason for not wearing deodorant, Interstellar actor Matthew has spoken openly on the subject.
Speaking to PEOPLE back in 2005, he claimed he hadn't touch the armpit protecting product in two decades, believing men should smell like 'man'.
He added that he often receives praise for his signature scent, including from his mother, who reportedly enjoys his unique natural smell.

The father-of-three joins the ever-growing list of celebrities who've made questionable confessions about their personal hygiene in recent years.
Back in 2021, another Hollywood star, Jake Gyllenhaal, claimed he finds 'bathing to be less necessary' as he ages.
“I do also think that there’s a whole world of not bathing that is also really helpful for skin maintenance," he explained. "And we naturally clean ourselves."

And that same year, Two and a Half Men star Ashton Kutcher made headlines by admitting that he 'washes his armpits and crotch regularly', but 'nothing else ever'.
