Former One Direction star Liam Payne reportedly died outside a hotel in Argentina's capital city, Buenos Aires, local newspaper La Nacion reported earlier this evening (16 October).
The outlet reported that the 31-year-old singer was found dead after falling from the hotel's third floor.
According to PA, Alberto Crescenti, head of the state emergency medical system, said that Payne fell into the courtyard of the Casa Sur Hotel in the Palermo neighbourhood.

Crescenti declined to answer further questions about the reported incident.
Payne, who was in Argentina to attend a show of former bandmate Niall Horan earlier this month (2 October), rose to fame after appearing on the X Factor back in 2010 when the group was formed.
Payne and Horan were also joined by the likes of Harry Styles, Louis Tomlinson, and Zayn Malik in the band with the biggest hits including 'What Makes You Beautiful', 'Kiss You', 'Night Changes' and 'Best Song Ever'.

The band officially broke up in 2016.
Payne previously dated X Factor judge, Cheryl Cole, between the years 2016 to 2018 and they welcomed a son together named Bear back in March 2017.
It was also in 2017 that Payne released his very first solo single titled 'Strip That Down'.

The track performed extremely well in the charts and went on to reach Number 3 in the Official UK Charts and Number 10 on the US Billboard Hot 100.
Although Payne joined One Direction in 2010, he actually previously auditioned for the show two years prior in 2008 aged just 14 years old.
He sang Frank Sinatra's 'Fly Me to the Moon' and advanced past the first round.
The then-teen made it to the Judges' Houses stage, but judge Simon Cowell advised him to go back to school and re-audition again two years later.

He did exactly that and auditioned again in 2010 where he was put in a group with the four other lads to form One Direction.
Although the band finished in third place, they went on to become one of the best-selling boy groups of all time.
All in all, the band has sold more than 70 million records worldwide and they also have over 21 billion streams on streaming platforms.
Others accolades for One Direction include six Billboard Music Awards, seven Brit Awards, seven American Music Awards and a staggering 28 Teen Choice Awards.
