Machine Gun Kelly makes heartbreaking revelation about how daughter helped him get sober

Machine Gun Kelly has said he 'let down' his daughter after a comment she made about his addiction

Machine Gun Kelly shared that his young daughter helped him to get sober, following a revelation she made that 'broke his heart'.

The rapper, born Colson Baker, 34, opened up about his abuse of alcohol, marijuana, and pills on a recent episode of the Million Dollaz Worth of Game podcast.

But it was his daughter, Casie Baker, that helped him make the decision to get sober, after he was taken back by an observation she had made.

He decided that her revelation was 'step one' in getting help, and admitted on the Dumb Blonde podcast that he had been fully sober since last August.

He said: "I didn’t tell anybody outside of the [people] closest to me.

"That was my first time I ever went to rehab.

"They just gave me so many ways to operate the body, show where this anger is coming from, and methods to quell it.

"I continue to embrace that this journey is gonna be hard for me, but I accept it and forgive myself.

"I’m also really hard on myself, very self-deprecating.”

Talking about his sobriety, he said: "I don't drink anymore.

"I haven't drank since last August."

Talking about the initial conversation he had, when he believes his daughter was around 11 or 12, he said: "It started with my daughter saying, 'Dad, you know I can tell when you're high?' It broke my heart.

"It was the ultimate let down."

He continued: "It took me a while afterward, because obviously drugs have a vice grip on you.

"That was step one for me.

"As a father and as a man, to be the father I wish my dad would have been, I have to break this generational curse for my kid."

In July, he shared a collection of pictures of him and Casie for her 15th birthday on Instagram.

In the first photo, the dad and daughter duo can be seen posing together under a huge pink heart-shaped balloon arch, complete with pink balloon letters that spelled out 'HBD Casie'.

In the caption of the post, he lovingly wrote: "The world spins but when I look at you it stops. Happy 15th princess."

He shared other pictures including a couple of heartwarming throwbacks when his daughter was much younger, playing with his guitar.

In more recent moments, the teen and her dad watched a basketball game, chilled on the beach and rode a motorcycle.
