The 83-year-old 'original influencer' made the bombshell confession in a trailer for her upcoming Netflix documentary

Martha Stewart has admitted to cheating on her ex-husband after giving one piece of advice to young women.

Stewart, who is arguably one of America's most prominent homemaking and cooking personalities, made the bombshell confession in the brand-new trailer for her upcoming documentary, Martha.

Check out the official Netflix trailer here:

The eagerly-anticipated doc is set to hit our screens at the end of this month (30 October), but the trailer just dropped last night.

The doc 'pulls back the curtain on one of America’s greatest self-made icons', featuring hundreds of hours of intimate interviews with Stewart, 83, and those from her inner circle.

Stewart’s private archives of diaries, letters, and never-seen-before footage will also be shared.

Covering her decades-long career, the scandal that sent her to prison back in 2004, and her love life, the upcoming doc gives fans a chance to find out more about 'the original influencer who’s still captivating new generations of fans'.

In the trailer, Martha discusses her relationship with her publisher ex-husband Andy Stewart, who she was married to 1961 to 1990 - namely, that she cheated on him very early on.

She also offered out 'advice' for young women out there urging: "Young women, listen to my advice.

"If you're married and your husband starts to cheat on you, he's a piece of sh*t - get out of that marriage."

An off-camera producer then asked the author about her own affair to which he revealed: "Yeah, but I don't think Andy ever knew about that."

Reflecting on her life some more, Martha said she wasn't totally sure what the correct answer was when asked what was more important in life: "A marriage? Or a career?"

She did, however, point out: "I coulda just been a miserable, has-been housewife.

"But I didn't let that happen to myself. And I'm so happy I didn't."

She previously told E! News last year: "I know a lot of eligible men.

"I think they really want a woman who will take care of them, so I'm still not quite in the position where I can take care of a man full-time because I work too much.

"If I analyse my life, I think the work has taken precedence over the romance. I have a hard time making room for both and it's not the highest priority that I have a boyfriend, but it would be nice!"

Martha will be available to stream on Netflix on 30 October.
