Megan Thee Stallion speaks out on decision to ‘pull the plug’ on her mum who was on life support

Megan Thee Stallion recalled what went through her mind during the heart-wrenching decision

Megan Thee Stallion talks about being left in 'shambles' after 'pulling the plug' on her mum's life support in a new documentary.

Megan has often talked about the heart-breaking pain she felt following the death of her mother in 2019, but in a new Prime Video documentary, the rapper went into the reasons behind her passing.

Megan, 29, lost her mum Holly Thomas to a brain tumour in March 2019.

The documentary Megan Thee Stallion: In Her Words, opens the curtains on the extent of the pain her mother was facing at the time.

She recalled a time where her 47-year-old mum was experiencing 'back-to-back' seizures, and Megan noted that she had no quality of life at all.

In the film, she said: "They had to put her under. She was just brain dead.

“So I stayed up there every day. I was spending the night at the hospital.

"I just was praying that she could shake back from it."

Unfortunately, Holly was not in a position where she could make any form of recovery, and Megan was left with the most difficult decision to make.

The star added: "Once I realised she wasn't coming back, I was just like, 'Damn, I can't keep her like this.'

"Because I know she wouldn't have wanted to stay like this.

"So I had to make the decision to pull the plug, and she just passed the next day."

Just three weeks following the death, Megan returned to the stage, promising fans it's what her mum would have wanted.

Megan said: "Ya'll know that 2019 has been really tough for me.

"I don't wanna cancel none of my shows, and I didn't want to stop going, because that's not what my mama would want me to do.

"She was my number one fan, through all the ass-shakin' and cussin'."

Not only had Megan lost her mother, but she was going through grief without her dad too.

Her father, Joseph Pete Jr., died when she was in just ninth grade.

She opened up about the struggles she faced in the years after her mum's passing.

Megan explained: "When my mama passed away, I think I really forgot who I was and I lost a lot of confidence.

"I was so used to my mama telling me what to do and when life started getting crazy I didn’t have her.

"I wouldn't be the woman I am today without Holly Thomas."
