Meghan Markle reveals one strict rule for food writer who had rare access to her 'real kitchen' in $14m home

New York Times journalist, Julia Moskin, revealed the rule in a rare interview with the Duchess published earlier this week (2 April)

A journalist who had some pretty exclusive access to Meghan Markle's 'real kitchen' in her $14 million home has revealed one strict rule which she reportedly laid out ahead of her visit.

Now, fans of the Duchess of Sussex have been treated to a number of snippets of both her personal life following the launch of her new Netflix series as well as her family home life with her and Prince Harry's two children, Prince Archie and Princess Lilibet, making more and more appearances on her social media over the past few months.

However, her lifestyle series - titled With Love, Meghan - wasn't actually filmed in her home but, instead, shot at a nearby location.

Now, according to New York Times food writer, Julia Moskin, Meghan had a very specific rule for when she rocked up to the Montecito mansion in order to interview her ahead of the launch of her brand, As Ever.

Namely, Julia wasn't allowed to pap any pics - something totally fair enough, if you ask me.

"I was allowed in on the condition that no photographs were taken in, or of, the house," she wrote in the article published Wednesday (2 April).

In the same interview, the former Suits star also briefly addressed criticism that she isn't 'relatable'.

"Don’t they know my life hasn’t always been like this?" she asked.

The outlet highlighted the fact that before meeting her now-husband Harry in 2016, who she later went on to welcome her two children with, Meghan was 'divorced, in her mid-30s, and unsure where her next job or home would be'.

Meghan, who has also recently revealed her upcoming podcast Confessions of a Female Founder, explained that she's started up all these projects because she enjoys having a career and highlighted that she hadn’t been without a job since she was 13, long before meeting the Duke of Sussex.

"I need to work, and I love to work. This is a way I can connect my home life [raising children Lilibet and Archie] and my work," she shared.

Meghan's As Ever range - which saw several products sell out in no time at all - includes her 'signature' raspberry spread ($14 or $9 without the packaging), which is inspired by the recipe she crafted in her own kitchen, with a blend that 'delicately mixes the sweetness of raspberries with a hint of lemon'.

There's also a tin of flower sprinkles ($15), which Meghan put to good use in her Netflix series, showing how the edible flower petals can 'act as confetti for your plating', whether it’s for topping shortbread biscuits with a pop of colour or sprinkling over an omelette and scrambled eggs for an unexpected flourish.

Other offerings include herbal lemon ginger tea, herbal peppermint tea, herbal hibiscus tea (all tea $12), crepe mix ($14), shortbread cookie mix with flower sprinkles ($14) and limited edition wildflower honey with honeycomb ($28).
