Ryan Reynolds has cleared up the circumstances surrounding that viral kiss with Andrew Garfield at the 2017 Golden Globes.
The duo were paired up for Variety's iconic Actors on Actors series to discuss their latest roles ahead of awards season.
Reynolds is being recognised for Deadpool & Wolverine, and Garfield for his character Tobias in We Live in Time.

Prior to sitting down for Actors on Actors, the last time the two came face to face was at the Golden Globes in 2017 - when the two shared a cheeky kiss following Reynold's loss for Best Actor.
At the time, Ryan Gosling won the gong for his role as Sebastian in La La Land.
Reynolds said to Garfield: "The last time I saw you was the Golden Globes," Reynolds tells Garfield during the conversation.
"Garfield was sitting beside me, and he goes, 'Hey, if they call your name and you win, don't kiss your wife [Blake Lively], just kiss me."

He then joked: "And of course, Gosling absolutely did not deserve it," prompting laughter from Garfield.
He then clarified: "I'm a genuine nutty fan of his," before concluding: "I love that we were just sitting there and were just like, 'Ah, let's do it anyways.'"
Garfield then added that he felt 'glad that you [Reynolds] was game' to kiss, even as a joke.

He added: "I also retrospectively felt a little bit insensitive towards Ryan's moment."
Reynolds said: "Nobody actually noticed until later and it was actually kind of perfect."
This isn't the first time the kiss has been discussed.
Stephen Colbert asked Garfield on The Late Show in the months after the viral moment: "What was going on there?"

The actor responded: "I just wanted Ryan to know that I loved him no matter whether he won or lost.
“It doesn’t matter. He showed up. It doesn’t change anything in my heart.”
The two also discussed Reynolds' performance in Deadpool & Wolverine during Actors on Actors.

Garfield gushed: "As soon as [Deadpool & Wolverine] started, I was like, 'There’s no way they allowed him to do all of this. How the f--- …?
"You’re the head writer on this film. But I don’t know anyone else who’s doing it, in terms of peeling back the onion of the self-awareness and meta-ness and also retaining a heart and providing a genuine service to fans while also kind of mocking. The layers of self-mockery are kind of impossible to decipher."
Reynolds returned the love, telling Garfield: "We love you in our house and and and your work and your dedication. You do something that only you can do, and that's a beautiful thing to watch in action."
