Selena Gomez found herself in hot water earlier this week after going public with her relationship with Benny Blanco.
The US singer and actress left her fans with dropped jaws after revealing that she and her fellow musician beau had actually been dating for around six months.
Whilst some of her loyal followers were happy to have heard that Gomez, 31, is in a newly-loved up relationship, others pointed out that the pair don't have a happy history.

Back in 2020, record producer Blanco, 35, appeared to share the former Wizards of Waverley Place star in an interview, after describing her as a 'cookie-cutter pop artist' whilst heaping praise onto her ex-boyfriend, Justin Bieber.
At the time, he told podcast host Zach Sang of Gomez: "Like you know, they're like, 'this is my new single and here's my makeup line.'".
Blanco continued: "Justin's like, 'Yo. I have a pimple and I have anxiety today.' He's always been upfront about that stuff. For me, I think he's really falling into himself as an adult now. It's brave to put this song ['Lonely', 2021] out."

Still, Gomez broke the news of their brand new relationship on Instagram earlier this week, sharing a photo of herself wearing a ring with a 'B' embellishment.
And just today, she surprised her fans by posting another cosied-up photo with her new man, who appearing to be hugging her from behind.
Fans of the 'Good For You' singer haven't held back when it comes to their thoughts on her relationship, finding it peculiar for her to be dating someone that so publicly slammed her.

Furthermore, Gomez has since been responding to fans' comments with sassy replies and pointed remarks.
After one fan labelled her as 'corny' for getting involved with Blanco, she hit back: "Lol yeah and he's still better than anyone I've ever been with. Facts".
Another accused her of always choosing to date 'crusty, problematic music men' and believed she should go for someone 'rich, educated, mature handsome'.

However, Gomez refuted her statement: "lol oh sweet girl. so off".
The Rare Beauty founder went on to dub fans' input as "misguided", telling them in a lengthy statement: "oh sweetheart. i've been in therapy since i was 18.
"I know what's best for me and I will fight till I get what I deserve. I appreciate your misguided input but i'm growing. Don't feel free to grow with me just know I'm not going to be with a f*** boy ever again. Sorry to disappoint".
