American actress Selena Gomez has bravely lifted the lid on her heartbreaking and ongoing health woes, revealing she'll never be able to carry her own child.
The revelation comes just weeks after the TV star and singer first discussed her openness to adopt - though fans at the time were curious as to where the plan stemmed from.

Speaking to Vanity Fair this week, the Only Murders In The Building actress firstly touched on her exciting new relationship record producer boyfriend Benny Blanco, whom she went public with earlier this year.
"I’ve never been loved this way," the 32-year-old admitted. "He’s just been a light. A complete light in my life.
"He’s my best friend. I love telling him everything."
She went on to confess that - even before meeting her musician beau - she'd set herself a series of goals that she hoped to have achieved by the time she reached her 35th birthday, one of which centred on motherhood.

"Before I met my boyfriend, I was single for five years, with the exception of going on a few dates," she recalled.
"And I was like, 'OK, if this is the vibe, then what is the most important thing to me? Family.'"
In the past, the 'Who Says' singer has alluded to the possibility of adopting, though opted not to detail her reasoning why.

Speaking to press at a Time 100 Most Influential Companies event back in May, the star explained: "I was alone for five years, and I got really used to it.
"A lot of people are afraid of being alone and I probably tortured myself in my head for like two years being alone, and then I kind of accepted it."
Selena continued: "Then I came up with my plan, which was I was going to adopt at 35 if I had not met anyone."
Speaking to the high-fashion publication this week, she claimed she was partially inspired by the fact her mother was adopted.

"[If she hadn't been] I probably wouldn’t be here," she joked. "I don’t know what her life would’ve been like. She and I are very thankful for how life played out."
It was then that Selena also made a heartbreaking admission about her fertility woes, revealing that ongoing health issues mean she's unlikely to ever be able to carry her own children.
"I haven’t ever said this, but I unfortunately can’t carry my own children," she explained.

"I have a lot of medical issues that would put my life and the baby’s in jeopardy. That was something I had to grieve for a while."
The actress - who was diagnosed with lupus sometime between 2012 and early 2014, and underwent a kidney transplant in 2017 - added that, though the devastating news was initially hard to swallow, she's open to all options.
"It’s not necessarily the way I envisioned it," she speaks of one day raising a child.
"I thought it would happen the way it happens for everyone. [But] I’m in a much better place with that.
"I find it a blessing that there are wonderful people willing to do surrogacy or adoption, which are both huge possibilities for me.
"It made me really thankful for the other outlets for people who are dying to be moms. I’m one of those people. I’m excited for what that journey will look like, but it’ll look a little different."
She courageously added: "At the end of the day, I don’t care. It’ll be mine. It’ll be my baby."
