Dearest gentle readers: This article contains spoilers for Bridgerton
After racing through the final four episodes of Bridgerton's third season, it's clear we all can't wait for what's to unfold in the next instalment of the beloved period drama.
Now, it will be fresh in the minds of Netflix viewers that there was a pretty attention-grabbing meet-cute between Michaela Stirling and Francesca Bridgerton.

The former, played by Masali Baduza, was introduced to the 'ton as John's cousin in the end of season three.
When Francesca, who is married to John, Earl of Kilmartin, first kissed her hubby - a look of what seemed to be disappointment appeared on her face.
Now, if we look at the original books by Julia Quinn, it's true that John does have a cousin - however his cousin is named Michael not Michaela.

In the novels, Michael was in love with Francesca from the get-go but never acted on his feelings.
It was only after John's death that Francesca eventually fell in love with Michael and the pair went on to tie the knot and live happily ever after.
However, it seems from the series adaptation that Bridgerton viewers will finally be treated to a queer romance on the TV show.

Upon Michaela and Francesca's first meeting, Michaela teased: "I caution you.
"Every sordid detail John has spoken about me is a lie... The truth is far worse."
Fans have since rushed to social media to share their praise for the plot twist with one X user writing: "Bisexual Benedict Bridgerton and bisexual Francesca Bridgerton secured what is life!"
"Francesca was already the IT girl and now she’s gay??? Ohhhh i’m seated," gushed a second.

A third chimed in: "AND YOU KNOW WHAT? I LOVE YOU TOO BISEXUAL MEN.
"CONGRATS TO FRANCESCA AND BENEDICT FOR BEING WHO THEY ARE FOR THEIR PRIDE."
A fourth penned: "Francesca and Michaela might be the prettiest ship in TV history and I mean that — like who looks like this??"

"MICHAELA STIRLING…FRANCESCA BRIDGERTON…GET BEHIND ME," echoed another.
And a final X user added: "What?!! I haven’t seen this new season yet but Michael is Michaela in this universe? (Which makes sense to me if they’re going to keep to the essence of the book but making the characters queer)."
Well, it's safe to say we're all very excited for what's next in store for Michaela and Francesca.
