Lady Danbury and Violet Bridgerton's relationship explained as fans question their history

Once again, Netflix viewers have come to the rescue shedding some light on the pair's confusing friendship

Dearest gentle readers: This article contains spoilers for Bridgerton

Lady Danbury and Violet Bridgerton's relationship has been explained as fans question the history between the two characters.

Now, for a little context, Lady Danbury's past becomes pretty important when she and Violet acknowledge the fact she had an affair with Violet's father, Lord Ledger.

During Queen Charlotte, this is subtly referenced for the very first time and Netflix viewers have since been left scratching their heads trying to get to the bottom of the interaction.

One fan of the period drama took to Reddit, writing: "I'm confused about the end of QC with Violet and Lady Danbury.

"So... does violet know that Lady D and her dad slept together? I thought at first she thought Lady D slept with Edmund but I'm guessing since Edmund never made hats himself she'd know its her dad.

"The energy was really weird where it didn't feel hostile or accepting and then the 'leave them on the mantle cause they look nice' idrk [I don't really know] what that's meant to be a metaphor for xD Like 'yh it was fun, it'll just be a nice memory' and do you think Violet forgives her?"

As per, Bridgerton aficionados were quick to come to the rescue and clear things up, with one explaining: "I think it’s a sign that Violet 'knows' there was some 'attachment' with her father. (She saw him make the birthday hat. And knew Lady Danbury as a child).

"I think it’s an invitation to Lady D to share her story. Since Violet shared her desire to be 'gardened'. So it’s a moment for their friendship to deepen."

A second theorised: "Yes Violet knows and Violet does forgive her. Violet knew her parents weren’t a love match. Violet favoured her father over her mother. "Remember Violet watched her father make that hat so it didn’t take much for Violet to put 2 and 2 together."

And a final Reddit user echoed: "Violet knows that LD [Lady Danbury] was gardened after becoming a widow. LD shared that with her.

"Then Violet sees the birthday hat and knows her father was involved with LD. She lets LD know at the tea by showing all of the hats and talking about the memories. A lot is said but, never spoken."

They finished up: "Violet seems upset yet, willing to continue the friendship. LD knows too that Violet is aware there was an affair with her father and chooses not to address it."

Well, that clears that up then!

While a third gushed: "I know fans probs wouldn’t watch a full Lady Violet + Lady Danbury spin-off with just scenes of their friendship but I would."
