Netflix viewers have found themselves hooked by the recently released sci-fi thriller starring Megan Fox.
The 38-year old actress stars in Subservience as Alice, an artificially intelligent gynoid who becomes sentient and increasingly hostile.
The film, which is set in an unnamed year in the not so distant future, chronicles the life of Nick (Michele Morrone) who purchases Alice for household help when when his wife Maggie (Madeline Zima) is hospitalised.

Nick has sex with Alice, and when Maggie returns home, Alice seeks to cause her harm.
As for the moral intention of the thriller, Leslie Felperin noted for the Guardian that 'the script [of Subservience] by Will Honley and April Maguire is pretty obviously anti-AI, especially when it comes to the threat it poses to labour and employment, a subject close to the film industry’s heart.'
This observation has been noted by viewers who are all pointing out the same thing when it comes to the shocking plot.

One person wrote on X: "That movie “Subservience” just confirms the world is surely but quickly coming to an end! The world will be filled with robots, no jobs, no human control, people are gonna start killing themselves off. Just an entire mess… cool lil movie tho!"
Another said: "This Subservience movie on Netflix is insane!!! What if we actually get to that point where AI robots do everything?? I really hope not."
A third added: "Elon Musk needs to watch Subservience before releasing those robots into the public."

And a fourth said: "Subservience on Netflix is a little scary because it very well maybe a depiction of life if AI goes [rogue].."
Clearly, people are worrying about AI taking over... which doesn't seem all that unlikely.
Director S.K. Dale opened up about his intentions for the film in an interview, focusing on the sex scenes between Alice and Nick.

He told TooFab: "I really felt that she [Fox], with the intimate scenes and everything, having built that trust from the first film with her, I thought, well, that's a really great way to kind of build a safe environment for us to explore these intimate scenes and try and shoot something that felt unique.
"There are certain aspects to these intimate scenes that are kind of different from others, where we're intercutting with different actors back and forth.
"So we needed them to be on set together and kind of watching to make sure we were imitating what was being seen and everything.
"For me, that is also a vital point, is making sure that it's not day one, you're throwing them in the deep end with a scene like this."
