Coleen Rooney won’t get cash prize if she wins I’m A Celebrity

Coleen Rooney is set to appear in I'm a Celeb later this month

I'm A Celebrity... Get Me Out of Here! fans were absolutely over the moon after finally finding out which stars we can look forward to seeing take on the trials and tribulations in the Australian jungle this year.

Ever since ITV viewers caught a glimpse of the 2024 line-up, they've been counting down the days until the beloved reality TV programme finally hits our screens in a few week's time (17 November).

Amid the celebs gearing up to take on the Bushtucker Trials and all the rest Down Under is none other than Coleen Rooney.

However, the 38-year-old TV personality won't be taking home a cash prize if she ends up being crowned Queen of the Jungle on I’m A Celebrity and there's a pretty interesting reason as to why.

Now, any seasoned viewers will know by now that any celeb given the title of Queen or King of the Jungle will receive a crown, staff and the chance to sit on the iconic I'm A Celeb throne.

However, it's not as common knowledge that whoever does take home the victory won't actually be going home with a cushy cash prize.

The reason for the decision is because ITV has decided the contestants will only receive a flat fee for appearing on the show.

According to Metro, the only condition for receiving such a fee is that campmates must remain in the jungle for at least 72 hours.

This means that, whether Coleen wins or not, she won't be taking home a lump sum cash prize, but will instead leave the jungle with a pre-agreed set fee under the condition of making it through the first three days.

While the celebs are paid a flat fee to appear on I'm A Celeb, the amount reportedly varies from contestant to contestant with the number going up depending on how famous the star in question is.

Rooney is rumoured to have received the highest fee ever to take part.

Getting Coleen secured for this year's season was definitely a major win for the network with a TV insider reportedly telling The Sun: "ITV bosses hope Coleen will spill the beans on life with hubby Wayne and her epic fallout with Rebekah Vardy, who starred in the show back in 2017."

The source added: "I’m A Celeb bosses have pulled off a huge coup."

Other than Coleen, we can look forward to a bunch of other stars who will be battling it out all in the hopes of being crowned this year's 'King' or 'Queen of the Jungle'.

Joining Coleen will be McFly star Danny Jones, Strictly Come Dancing legend Oti Mabuse, Loose Women star Jane Moore, Radio 1's Dean McCullough, N-Dubz singer Tulisa and boxing promoter Barry McGuigan.

The likes of Radio DJ Melvin Odoom, Coronation Street star Alan Halsall, Love Island icon Maura Higgins, BBC radio host Rev Richard Coles and internet sensation GK Barry will also be joining the mix.

Tyla has reached out to ITV for comment.
