Netflix drops official trailer for Heartstopper season 2

The full-length trailer gives fans a closer look at Nick and Charlie's Paris trip and teases a possible romance between Tao and Elle.

Attention all Heartstopper fans, say 'hi' to the first full look at season 2 in the newly released full-length trailer. Check it out below:

The beloved coming-of-age teen drama will be back next month but before we have eight new episodes to binge, Netflix has shared a proper look at what’s in store - including the hotly anticipated group trip to Paris.

Earlier this month, the Heartstopper cast joined in the festivities at London Pride where they released the initial season 2 teaser.

In case you haven’t watched the show, it follows the love story of two teens, gentle Charlie (Joe Locke) and rugby-loving Nick (Kit Connor).

When they’re seated next to each other in a class at their secondary school, a romance between the two boys blooms. This leads to a lot of self-discovery for them, most notably for Nick who comes out as bisexual to his mum, played by Academy Award-winner, Olivia Colman.

Charlie, Nick and their circle of friends navigate journeys of coming out and acceptance. Their fiercely loyal pal, Tao Xu (William Gal), has a few will-they-won’t-they moments his long-time friend, Elle Argent (Yasmin Finney), who transferred schools after she came out as transgender.

Elle just so happens to have a secret crush on Tao, and two of the girls she befriends at her new school - girlfriends Tara Jones (Corinna Brown) and Darcy Olson (Kizzy Edgell) - try to get the two of them together.

Nick, Charlie and the gang return as they experience the next chapter of life, love and friendship in season two, all while having to deal with exams. Thankfully, they get to go on a school trip to the City of Love which becomes a huge moment for everyone involved. Plus, prom is on the horizon meaning there’s a lot of things to look forward to.

The streaming service has already renewed the hit show for a third season, as seasons two and three were ordered at the same time.

Based on Alice Oseman’s graphic novels of the same name, the series, according to Netflix, is a ‘celebration of queer love, friendship and joy’.

“I hope that it just makes people smile and brightens their day — but I also hope that it inspires, particularly, young queer people to believe that they can find happiness and find romance and find friendship,” Oseman said when the double renewal was announced.

“We put so much love into the making of Heartstopper, so to reassemble the team for two more seasons is a dream come true,” executive producer Patrick Walters gushed. “I’m forever grateful to Alice Oseman for entrusting us with this beautiful, unique story that at its core seeks to uplift the next generation of young LGBTQ+ people. Stay tuned!”

Details about season 2 have been kept very hush-hush until the full trailer’s release today.

Tara and Darcy will face 'unforeseen challenges' in season 2.

“Season 2 is based on Volume 3,” Oseman previously told Tudum on the set of Heartstopper. “So we had a good foundation. But there’s not enough in the book to take a whole season of TV, so there had to be a lot of creation of new stuff.”
