Little-known ‘shower code’ I’m A Celebrity contestants follow in the jungle

Little-known ‘shower code’ I’m A Celebrity contestants follow in the jungle

This is how the I'm a Celeb campmates made it work.

Showering in the middle of a jungle is never going to be easy.

The celebs who have traded luxury for a camp in order to take part on I’m A Celebrity… Get Me Out of Here! know exactly how it feels.

In a bid to overcome the awkwardness that comes with showering in a jungle with other celebs while the nation at home watches, the cast of the 2023 edition of I’m A Celeb created a shower code.

Former contestant Ian “Dicko” Dickson shared the insight into how the celebs managed to wash in the open-air shower.

The shower was located outside the main camp, and the cast came up with a plan to try and maintain as much privacy as power.

The campmates would use their mic packs and akubra hats to signal that the shower was currently in use.

Dickson told news.com.au: “If you leave your akubra upturned with your microphone in it, at the point where you turn down to go towards the showers, it means that person’s in the shower and you’re not to go in there. That was the code.”

However the plan wasn’t successful in the long term.

Dickson added: “Most people didn’t give a monkey’s.”

He showered in his underwear for the first few days, explaining: “Then I thought: This is pointless. I ended up taking them off and showering nude.”

The next UK series of I’m A Celeb is around the corner and the full line-up was confirmed earlier this month.

Last year's cast raised eyebrows with controversial politician Nigel Farage joining the show and finishing in third place - and of course, Made in Chelsea's Sam Thompson took home the crown.

ITV viewers are sure to be absolutely buzzing after finding out which celebs we'll see take on the Bushtucker Trials, eating a relentless diet of rice and beans and trying their hardest to win stars for their camp despite being surrounded by an avalanche of creepy crawlies and critters.

And there are some big names on this year's line-up, including a certain 'Wagatha Christie'...
