JK Rowling ‘confirmed’ seriously dark Dumbledore theory that will change how you watch the films

JK Rowling ‘confirmed’ seriously dark Dumbledore theory that will change how you watch the films

This Harry Potter theory is probably the best one out there

There have been numerous Harry Potter fan theories spinning around since the first book was released and it only ramped up when the film franchise hit screens.

While some have been a little more light-hearted, such as Lavender giving Ron a love potion which made him fall for Hermione, to things which are pretty sinister like Voldemort being a cannibal, there’s always something new coming out of the woodworks.

But this one is JK Rowling approved, and you’ll love it too.

Since the release of Harry Potter and the Philosopher’s Stone, the tale of the Boy Who Lived has been a part of many people’s childhoods as it spanned over a decade.

As fans were quick to come up with their own interpretation of the books and films, many theories were churned through the press but none of them hit the mark for the writer, except for one.

Back in 2015, one user asked the author on X, formerly Twitter: “What’s your favourite fan theory?.”

To which she responded: “Dumbledore as death. It’s a beautiful theory, and it fits.”

Fans decided to explore the theory more for themselves and even they had to agree it makes sense.

That’s because of the Tale of Three Brothers in the books which told the story of three brothers who find a river that’s far too dangerous to cross.

So, using magic, they summon a bridge, but when they attempt to cross over, a mysterious hooded figure appears to them.

It’s death.

Death isn’t happy with the brothers for trying to get one over on him by using magic to keep safe and instead decides to toy with them in a cruel way.

He offers each a prize.

The first brother asks for the Elder Wand, the second asks for a resurrection stone and the third asks for an invisibility cloak.

The first two brothers die as a result of their requests, but the third survives and is able to pass down the cloak to his son and greets ‘death as an old friend’.

The theory is that Voldemort is the first brother with the wand, Snape is the second with the stone and James Potter, Harry’s dad, is the third with the cloak.

Who is Death? None other than Dumbledore who passed the cloak from James to Harry, according to the theory.

This is furthered by when Harry is shot with a killing curse in the Deathly Hallows Part Two, he sees Dumbledore in King’s Cross station, where Dumbledore calls him an 'old friend'.

It’s quite the theory, however it does seem to fit.

But who becomes Death after Dumbledore dies?

I’m hedging my bets on Malfoy. What do you think?
