‘Jaw-dropping’ and ‘heart-wrenching’ Jodie Comer performance has viewers all in agreement as sobering message leaves people stunned

Jodie Comer's performance in her one-woman-show left audiences needing to take a breath afterwards

Jodie Comer has got everyone talking online about her amazing one-woman performance, which delivered an essential message that left people sombre.

We all know that Jodie has been giving her best performance in everything that she’s ever been in, and that includes playing Chloe in E4’s My Mad Fat Diary way back before she was an Olivier and Tony award-winner.

The Killing Eve star is a master of perfecting and switching accents, languages and her entire personal to fit into that of her character, so it’s no surprise that a play she did in 2022 was equally as gripping as other roles she’s had.

However, this might be the most heart-wrenching and sobering message she’s ever delivered to date.

People online who are excited to see her return to this role have been raving about it on X.

After absolutely smashing her tenure playing a performance which explores the realities of the justice system, it turns out it’s coming back to cinemas.

Jodie stars as Tessa in Suzie Miller’s one-women play, Prima Facie, a young barrister from a working class background.

In the play, which was captured live in 2022 at the Harold Pinter Theatre in London’s West End (which completely sold out), she explores the life of Tessa, who works her way up from a working-class background right to the top of the ladder.

Tessa is a winner, and now she’s defending those in need, and cross-examining witnesses to get the truth.

But an unexpected event means that she need to work out the bounds of ‘where the patriarchal power of the law, burden of proof and morals diverge’.

Taking on the painful subjects of sexual assault, rape and misogyny, Prima Facie truly left fans in awe after watching it, and they can’t stop talking about it.

One person wrote: “A reminder to those who haven’t seen it that this phenomenal production is back in cinemas. 5 stars without question.

“Jodie Comer’s performance is an instant all-timer. Saw it 2 years ago and it’s never left my mind.”

Someone else said: “Saw a screening of prima facie & it’s UNREAL how fantastic Jodie Comer is in it. I had to consciously take a few breaths when it was over. What a sobering portrayal of how the criminal justice system fails women. ‘1 in 3 of us, look to your left, look to your right.”

Another penned: “Just got back home from seeing Prima Facie - which never fails to blow me away - #JodieComer 's performance is breathtaking and the messages is so relevant.

“Most rapes do not get reported because going through the courts is like being raped all over again.”

The story, whilst dark, is a reality for many women who experience sexual assault that is then presented in front of the courts.

It really hammers down the impact on the victim, who has already been through so much.

Prima Facie is now available to watch at select cinemas across the UK.
