In-laws week on Married at First Sight UK never disappoints, does it? It’s a chance for the nearest and dearest of the newlyweds to really get to know the stranger-turned spouse.
Of course, things don’t always go all too smoothly – as Lacey found out when her mum met husband Nathan for the first time.
Lacey’s mother was kindly making the couple some dinner when she asked her daughter’s new fella to lend a helping hand.

The only thing is, chicken fajitas were on the menu... and Nathan’s a vegetarian.
After she requested he chop up the meat, Nathan politely declined as he explained he doesn’t eat meat, while Lacey’s mum joked she’d ‘never met’ a veggie before.
But when they sat down to eat, Nathan joked that the food looked awful and she started to cry, prompting a lot of division among viewers about who was in the wrong – Lacey's mum, who chose to bring chicken fajitas to a vegetarian’s house, in turn excluding him from the meal, or Nathan and his blunt comment about her cooking skills?

Lacey later took to Instagram to explain that her mum simply hadn’t known about Nathan’s veggie diet, reminding people that the show is ‘edited for entertainment’ and that they should ‘take it with a pinch of salt’.
Lacey had also stressed how her mum was only trying to scope Nathan out to see if he was genuinely trying to make the relationship work.
She added: “My mum just had by best interest and because Nathan said wow to my twin she was making sure Nathan’s heart was with me!”

Nathan has now also spoken out about the incident himself, telling his own followers that they should be ‘kind’.
“Hey gang would just like to do a quick post, thank you for all the lovely messages!” he began.
“But it’s important to remember to be kind and remember it’s an experiment.”

Nathan continued: “I believe Lace’s mum was unaware that I was a vegetarian at the time and I unfortunately didn’t have anything in the fridge lmfao.
“But it was all squished briefly after followed by a quick embrace, there’s no hard feelings at all so keep it positive vibes!”
Lacey had also told others that they hadn't seen her, her mum and Nathan 'all cuddling', as they will have only seen a small chunk of their time together.
She also also joked that her mum is ‘menopausal’, which could be why she broke down in tears over Nathan making fun of those doomed fajitas.
