Hart has been a TV staple since the early 1990s, having risen to mainstream fame at the titular character on Clarissa Explains It All.

After a decent stint on Sabrina the Teenage Witch – a seven-year stint, to be precise – the actor went on to land numerous rom-com roles and one of the starring roles in sitcom Melissa and Joey.
Fast forward to today, and 47-year-old Hart has unveiled her latest role, and it’s one that has taken people by surprise, as she’s playing a grandmother.
Executive produced by Hart, Would You Kill for Me? The Mary Bailey Story is a Lifetime film that premiered on 28 October.

A synopsis reads: “The Lifetime original movie is based on the real-life experiences of Mary Elizabeth Bailey, author of My Mother's Soldier, whom at 11 years-old, was forced to do the unthinkable.
“Told through three different perspectives, Would You Kill for Me? The Mary Bailey Story follows the volatile relationship between three generations of women - Ella (Hart), her daughter Veronica (Olivia Scriven), and her granddaughter Mary (Presley Allard) whom she raises for Veronica.
“After Veronica becomes deeply entangled with Willard (Connor McMahon), the lives of all three women take a turn for the worse when Willard becomes increasingly abusive.

“Veronica suffers a deep betrayal when her best friend Susan (Celina ‘Spookyboo’ Myers), becomes pregnant with Willard’s child, further complicating their toxic relationship - leaving Ella, Mary and her half-brother Sammy at the mercy of Willard’s rampages.
“The family fears for their lives, culminating in one horrific night when Willard is shot dead… but the identity of who pulled the trigger is not revealed till the very end.”
Many fans were stunned to see who Hart was playing, having previously associated her with teen roles like Clarissa and Sabrina for so many years.
