An Oscar nominated romance flick with a near-perfect Rotten Tomatoes score is set to land on Netflix this week, following A LOT of love when it was released in cinemas last year.
With awards season now in full swing, many of us are trying to get through the films and TV shows that are being honoured this year to see what all the hype’s about.
It’s hard to keep up, though, given that there are no fewer than 10 movies up for the Best Picture accolade at the 2024 Academy Awards – the event seen by many as the pinnacle of the entertainment calendar.

While there are a few big hitters you may have already seen, including the likes of Barbie, Oppenheimer and Killers of the Flower Moon, there might be a couple of nominees that have managed to pass you by.
That includes Past Lives, which debuted at Sundance Film Festival in January 2023 before being released in cinemas several months later.
Watch the trailer below:
Directed by Celine Song, the semi-autobiographical romantic drama follows Nora and Hae Sung (Greta Lee and Teo Yoo), two childhood friends who reunite as adults after one of them emigrates from South Korea.

The movie garnered something of a cult following after it hit screens, with many fans saying it was one of their favourite films of the year.
“Past Lives was incredible,” one tweeted last year.
Someone else said: “Past Lives is cinematic perfection. Takes a familiar romantic narrative and subverts it in a quietly poignant but decisively modern way.
"Evokes more truth in one line than most movies do in 120+ minutes. Easily one of the best movies of the year.”

A third added: “Past Lives is a contender for the most romantic film of the year. Celine Song’s beautifully written, shot, and acted story of two childhood friends reconnecting after many years leaves you full of emotions. We’ll be hearing about it a lot this year.”
So beloved is Past Lives, that it's racked up an incredible critics' score of 96 percent on Rotten Tomatoes, along with an equally respectable 84 percent audience rating.
If you haven’t had a chance to watch it yet, the good news is that it’s being added to Netflix this week – specifically on 15 February.

No doubt many people will also be tuning in for a second watch, with one fan tweeting a couple of days ago: “Past Lives is coming to Netflix next Thursday and I will be rewatching and probably crying.”
