Shocking footage has revealed what happened during the lead-up to the Los Angeles police shooting of Weezer bassist Scott Shriner’s wife, Jillian Lauren-Shriner, in a chaotic hit-and-run chase.
Earlier this week on Monday (7 April), California Highway Patrol (CHP) were called for backup while investigating a three-car hit-and-run in what would eventually lead to Shriner getting shot in the shoulder by a police officer after reportedly refusing to surrender her weapon.
The shooting took place after CHP requested a backup, locating suspects who fled into a residential neighbourhood near the 134 Freeway and Figueroa Street.

KTLA’s helicopter, Sky5, was able to capture the moment officers were arresting one of the suspects who was only wearing his underwear.
The Los Angeles Police Department (LAPD) reported that multiple Northeast Division uniformed officers responded and established a perimeter and, several minutes later, they were directed by CHP to the rear of a residence in the 5300 block of Waldo Place, where one suspect was last seen running.
"As the officers were in the rear yard of that residence, they observed a female, later identified as 51-year-old Jillian Shriner, in the yard of a neighbouring residence armed with a handgun," the officials continued.

According to the police, the officers ordered Shriner to drop the handgun 'numerous times' but she 'refused' before she 'pointed the handgun at the officers' which led to what it being described as an 'Officer-Involved Shooting'.

It was at this point that Shriner was 'struck by gunfire and fled into her residence'.
After exiting the residence with another female, who was later identified as the family’s babysitter, she was taken into custody, with the Los Angeles Fire Department paramedics later transporting her to a local hospital, where she was treated for a 'non-life-threatening gunshot wound'.

KTLA’s helicopter was able to capture the moment both women were ordered to come down the driveway of the home.
They could be seen with their hands raised and told to get face down on the pavement of the street.
Officers dressed in tactical gear were seen placing both women in cuffs.

The LAPD confirmed that it was later determined that Shriner was uninvolved in the hit-and-run and lived at the residence where she was observed and was later 'booked for attempted murder'.
"One of the male suspects connected with the hit-and-run was detained by CHP, cited, and released. The other two suspects were not located," the police press release concludes, adding that a 9mm handgun was recovered from Shriner's residence.
