Weezer bassist Scott Shriner issues somewhat of a strange statement after his wife, Jillian Lauren-Shriner, was shot by police and charged with attempted murder in a chaotic hit-and-run chase.
On Monday (7 April), California Highway Patrol (CHP) were called for backup while investigating a hit-and-run in what would eventually lead to Shriner getting shot in the shoulder by a police officer after reportedly refusing to surrender her weapon.
The shooting took place after CHP requested a backup, locating suspects who fled into a residential neighbourhood near the 134 Freeway and Figueroa Street.

The Los Angeles Police Department (LAPD) reported that multiple Northeast Division uniformed officers responded and established a perimeter and, several minutes later, they were directed by CHP to the rear of a residence in the 5300 block of Waldo Place, where one suspect was last seen running.
"As the officers were in the rear yard of that residence, they observed a female, later identified as 51-year-old Jillian Shriner, in the yard of a neighbouring residence armed with a handgun," the officials continued.
According to the police, the officers ordered Shriner to drop the handgun 'numerous times' but she 'refused' before she 'pointed the handgun at the officers' which led to what it being described as an 'Officer-Involved Shooting'.

It was at this point that Shriner was 'struck by gunfire and fled into her residence'.

After exiting the residence with another female, who was later identified as the family’s babysitter, she was taken into custody, with the Los Angeles Fire Department paramedics later transporting her to a local hospital, where she was treated for a 'non-life-threatening gunshot wound'.
The LAPD confirmed that it was later determined that Shriner was uninvolved in the hit-and-run and lived at the residence where she was observed and was later 'booked for attempted murder'.

The New York Times reports she was charged with attempted murder early Wednesday, with bail set at $1 million.

And now, just days later on Thursday (10 April), Scott has now broken his silence on the ordeal.
When asked by the NY Post about his wife's wellbeing while out and about walking four dogs, the 59-year-old musician assured: "She’s alright, thank you for asking!"

He then took to opportunity to spotlight Weezer's upcoming performance at US music festival, Coachella, which is set to take place this weekend on Saturday (12 April).
"See you at Coachella!" Scott added, as he returned to his home.
The couple tied knot back in Hawaii in 2005 and, together, they share two adopted sons.
