Fans are horrified after seeing the ogre's new look during the Shrek 5 teaser, as some suggest creators have 'massacred' him.
If it isn't broke, don't fix it, is what springs to mind as fans watched in horror at the newly released teaser trailer for Shrek 5.
It seems as though everyone's favourite childhood ogre has had a severe makeover, and it's safe to say that viewers are far from impressed.

Universal Pictures announced that the film will be released in during Christmas 2026, starring the original crew - Mike Myers, Cameron Diaz and Eddie Murphy, as Shrek, Fiona and Donkey.
But Shrek isn't the only one who has had a switch up.

It seems that all three of the main characters have been refreshed, as new animations were created for the film.

Shrek 5 is the sequel to Shrek Forever After, which was released in 2010.
And while the wait for a new instalment was highly anticipated, this is not quite how fans planned the return of their loveable green giant and his family.
It seems as though Shrek's children will also play a much bigger role in the story this time around, as Zendaya is set to join the cast as Felicia, Shrek and Fiona’s daughter.
Fans were quick to share their outrage all over social media.
"Someone start a petition already," one said.

Another said: "This is the WORST thing they could’ve possibly done."
Others commented more specifically on the quality of the animation.
One noted: "I don’t know if this animation style is considered ‘better’ but it looks so off when compared to every other Shrek."
Another agreed, and added: "Not gonna lie, but what have they done to this film? Doesn’t even look like a Shrek film to be honest, the animations look very poor."

One went as far as to say they refuse to watch the next instalment.
They added: "Nah…I won’t watch it. I don’t want to spoil my memory of Shrek. Not risking my sacred memories of the almighty Shrek being tarnished."
But one viewer suggested a sensible reason for the switch up.

They said: "I think they changed the animation to accommodate for the younger generation, but they are 100% forgetting that our generation are gonna be the ones going to the movies to watch it."
Another wrote: "It’s not that it’s bad. It’s just that, no one asked to fix something that was already perfect."
