The daughter of Dubai’s ruler has seemingly announced her divorce from her husband via an Instagram post.
We can think of some awful ways to ask your other half for a divorce, but posting to Instagram has definitely got to be one of the worst.
However, Sheikha Mahra bint Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, has apparently revealed that she is divorcing her husband on the social media site, and accuses him of being 'occupied with other companions'.

However, all pictures of the pair together appear to have been wiped off both accounts, including their wedding photos, and they have unfollowed each other on social media, The Khaleej Times reports.
Her husband, Sheikh Mana bin Mohammed bin Rashid bin Mana Al Maktoum, has not yet released a statement about the split.
The apparent divorce has also not been addressed by her father, Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum.

Some comments from Instagram users have speculated that Sheikha Mahra's account could have been hacked as per the BBC.
However, there has been no official confirmation regarding this claim.
In Dubai, which is largely an Islamic country, divorce proceedings are governed by Sharia Law.
In most cases, the husband may divorce his wife, however, in order to the wife to initiate a divorce proceeding, it must be stated in their marriage contract that she is allowed to do so, Stowe Family Law states.

According to the BBC, her post implements an Islamic practice known as triple talaq.
This usually allows husbands to ask for divorce by saying 'I divorce you' three times, however, this has been banned in many countries, the publication says.
According to The Independent, women can also seek a divorce through a process known as 'khlua', which involves a married woman submitting a request to a court to cite a legitimate reason for the divorce.
Sheikha Mahra's most recent post was a picture of her and the pair's baby daughter, which was captioned ‘just the two of us’.
