Amber Heard has today, 24 May, rested her case in the defamation trial between her and ex-husband Johnny Depp at the Fairfax County Courthouse in Virginia.
Johnny Depp, 58, is suing Heard in a $50 million (£40.1million) defamation lawsuit over abuse claims she made in a piece for The Washington Post in 2018.
Depp’s legal team argue that the article implies Heard was physically and sexually abused by Depp when they were married, although the article does not mention him by name.
During what is expected to be the final week of the trial, Heard has formally rested her case on Tuesday – meaning that her legal team has finished explaining their case and are ready for the judge or jury to decide on the outcome.
Previously, Kate Moss has been called to the stand and will still be testifying as a rebuttal witness in support of Depp. The model and former girlfriend of Depp is expected to be attending the courtroom in-person tomorrow, Wednesday 25 May.
The 48-year old was previously not expected to provide testimony, but is soon set to take to the stand after Heard recalled an altercation during her own testimony which involved Moss's name.
On the stand, Heard previously said that during an alleged altercation with Depp and her sister, she was 'reminded' of a rumour which described Depp allegedly pushing Moss down a flight of stairs.
Heard said during her testimony: “[Whitney's] back was to the staircase, and Johnny swings at her. I didn’t hesitate, I didn’t wait. I immediately thought of Kate Moss and the stairs, and I swung at him."
The supermodel was romantically involved with Depp during their relationship, which spanned from 1994 to 1998.
The final arguments are expected to be heard on Friday 27 May, as the court wraps up the high-profile case.
