People have become unexpectedly obsessed with the will-they-won't-they saga of Olympic tennis aces Katerina Siniakova and Tomas Machac, who were seen hugging and kissing as they landed a gold medal together in this year’s games.
The duo, from the Czech Republic, took the top spot in the mixed doubles after defeating China’s Wang Xinyu and Zhang Zhizhen.
Posting a photo of her and Machac showing off their medals, Siniakova took to Instagram to thank their fans for the support they’d shown throughout.

“That was unreal,” she wrote, adding an emoji of a gold medal. Thanks everyone for supporting us. So happy with the result we have achieved.”
After the footage of their celebrations went viral, it didn’t take long for people to wonder if their relationship was strictly professional – especially as they actually used to be a couple.
Naturally, people have been obsessed with getting to the bottom of things, but it doesn’t sound like Siniakova and Machac will be confirming anything either way any time soon.

“That’s our personal life, so you don’t need to know that,” Siniakova told a reporter who asked if they are ‘still together’, according to the Associated Press.
Machac agreed, saying elusively that their relationship status is ‘top secret’ information.
Laughing, Siniakova: “We like when you are confused.”
Siniakova confirmed last month at the Prague Open that she and Machac had broken up after four years together.

She told Blesk.cz at the time: "Yes, it's true, but this is my private matter. Of course we will play, we are professionals after all."
But since competing at the Olympics, fans have been hooked on their supposed chemistry.
“My new Olympics obsession is Katerina Siniakova and Tomas Machac of Czechia, who were together for four years and recently broke up… but committed to playing mixed doubles and won the gold medal,” one wrote on X.

But whether or not they’re actually together, there’s one request many people have.
“This is a Hallmark movie waiting to happen," someone else said.
“They win gold and realise they made a mistake and are in love with each other as they kiss on the gold metal stand.”
Another echoed: “Your serve, Hallmark.”

Their story would make a GREAT rom-com, to be fair.
After all, it’s now been 20 years since we were given the joy that is Wimbledon... surely it’s time for another?!
