Just weeks after her return to Instagram, Meghan Markle has surpassed a fellow royal after hitting an enormous social media milestone.
Meghan had been notably absent on social media since she and Prince Harry decided to step down as senior royals in 2020.
However, ahead of the release of her new Netflix show, With Love, Meghan, and the announcement of her lifestyle brand, As Ever, the star made an unprecedented return to the social media platform on New Year's Day.
The series will see the Duchess come together with celebrity guests, sharing her cooking, hosting and gardening tips.

In a video clip announcing her lifestyle brand, which is set to sell 'fruit preserves', 'non-medicated hair preparations', as well as candles, stationery, and jewellery, she admitted she 'hasn't been able to share' certain aspects of her life 'for the past few years'.

But less than two months since her return to social media, the Duchess of Sussex has overtaken a fellow royal in followers.
Meghan has quickly reached two million followers on Instagram, surpassing Princess Eugenie's account.

Eugenie currently has 1.8 million followers on the site and has been posting consistently for over six years.
But despite surpassing the princess, it's thought that Meghan, 43, and Eugenie, 34, are actually good friends.
It's also been reported that Eugenie was the first royal to be introduced to the actor when she started dating Harry in 2016.

Eugenie also made a brief appearance in the couple's 2022 Netflix series, which documented their journey since stepping back from their roles as senior royals.
Meghan has uploaded several videos and pictures since her return to the app, including a gushy Valentine's post for her husband.
Writing in the caption, she said: "Back home taking care of our babies, and missing my Valentine, as he continues on at the Invictus Games, changing lives and reminding all of us of the power of healing and resilience through these incredible veterans and their families.
"Beyond proud of my husband and what he’s created.

"My love, I will eat burgers & fries and fish & chips with you forever. Thank you for you."
She has also posted a trailer for her new show, which is set to be released on 4 March.
Despite making her return, the mum-of-two has made sure to keep comments on her posts turned off. Meghan has previously been very open about the amount of trolling she received upon joining the royal family.
