Meghan Markle was allegedly left unhappy after she was asked about Prince Harry in a 2017 interview.
Shortly before Prince Harry and Meghan announced their engagement, Meghan appeared on the cover of Vanity Fair - but a misunderstanding meant that the now Duchess of Sussex reportedly complained to the reporter about her interview has been revealed.
Former Vanity Fair editor Graydon Carter spoke about what happened in his new memoir, When the Going was Good, explaining that Meghan had misunderstood the focus of the interview.
“Jane Sarkin, who booked our covers, came in and said, ‘We should do a cover on Meghan Markle,’” he told Page Six.

“I said, ‘I have no idea who that is.’ She said, ‘She’s on ‘Suits.’ I said, ‘I have no idea what that is, why should we do a story on her?’ So she said, ‘Because she’s going to marry Prince Harry.'”
Carter said that Meghan had thought the interview would be about her charity work, but that it was focused on Prince Harry and their relationship.
“Excuse me, is this going to all be about Prince Harry? Because I thought we were going to be talking about my charities and my philanthropy,” Markle allegedly said.
“This woman is slightly adrift on the facts and reality," added Carter.

However, to want to shine a spotlight on your charity work opposed to your new relationship is a pretty valid response.
Tyla has reached out to Meghan's reps for comment.
In the Vanity Fair interview, Meghan was asked about her relationship with Harry.

She responded: “It has its challenges, and it comes in waves — some days it can feel more challenging than others,” she said at the time. “And right out of the gate it was surprising the way things changed. But I still have this support system all around me, and, of course, my boyfriend’s support.
“... We’re two people who are really happy and in love. We were very quietly dating for about six months before it became news, and I was working during that whole time, and the only thing that changed was people’s perception. Nothing about me changed. I’m still the same person that I am, and I’ve never defined myself by my relationship.”
Meghan and Harry announced their engagement in November 2017, before tying the knot in May 2018.

The pair now live in California after stepping down from their roles as senior royals in 2020.
In his Page Six interview, Carter - who was friendly with Princess Diana - said Harry's mother would feel 'great sorrow' over the tensions between the family.
“I would think she would feel great sorrow for her son to have been pulled away from his family like this, especially his brother but also his father,” said Carter.
“Anytime someone comes between siblings that’s a disaster, horrible for a family."
