If you were a major Gossip Girl fan, you may have been surprised when Dan Humphrey (Penn Badgley) was revealed to be the anonymous blogger.
Fans were pretty divided when GG's identity was finally revealed at the end of the series, some were shook that Dan was behind the account, while others were adamant they had known all along.
But now, some TikTokers are wondering whether Gossip Girl's identity was clear from episode one - could they be onto something? Watch the video below:
One fan, @kayleeewarddd, shared a TikTok video of a scene from the start of the series, explaining: "3rd time watching this show & i just caught on to this.

"They literally SHOWED us from the beginning who Gossip Girl was and none of us caught on."
In the video, Serena (Blake Lively) can be seen, having just returned to New York, while Kristen Bell's voiceover asks: "Why did she leave? Why did she return? Send me all the deets. And who am I?"
The camera then pans to Dan who is typing behind a laptop.
"That's one secret I'll never tell. XOXO, Gossip Girl," the voiceover continues.

And other TikTokers are adamant that the scene was a major clue about Gossip Girl's identity, with one commenting: "Also when gossip girl talk I always think about if Dan in that moment knows that information in the show or not, he usually does!!!"
While another said: "Omg yes! when i first saw this i was like 'wait so dan’s gossip girl'."
And a third added: "When i first watched it i guessed him bc of this scene."

Some weren't convinced however, with another adding: "Still didn’t make sense. Dan was shocked by posts when he was alone. It was supposed to be her brother."
While one wrote: "To be completely honest, I feel like dan was never meant to be gossip girl it was just a random plot twist. They added at the end seasons."
And a third said: "Naw because if you rewatch it, there sooo many scenes where you’re just like 'howww was Dan ever Gossip Girl'."

It seems writers changed their minds a couple of times about Gossip Girl's identity - in fact, it was originally supposed to be either Eric or Nate.
Chatting at Vulture festival, the show's executive producer, Joshua Safran explained via BuzzFeed: "Dan was not my intended Gossip Girl. We worked hard to kind of lay in tiny seeds about it being Eric.
"We were like, 'We gotta scratch that.' Nate never sent in a tip-in through all of those episodes, which is when we’re like, 'Oh, well then he’s Gossip Girl.
"I like to joke that Dan was Gossip Girl because I had left the show by then. But, I understand why Dan was Gossip Girl. I just had my heart set on Nate."
