Kristen Bell makes surprising admission about Gossip Girl despite being one of the main characters

Many Gossip Girl fans didn't even know Kristen Bell was in the show

Kristen Bell's voice lives rent free in our heads thanks to her iconic role in Gossip Girl - but the actress has made a huge confession about her time on the show.

44-year-old Bell is currently starring in the hit Netflix romantic comedy series Nobody Wants This, which follows a sex podcaster who falls in love with a rabbi, portrayed by Adam Brody.

Many years before her starring role in the romcom, Bell was the voice of the anonymous gossip blog 'Gossip Girl' in the eponymous drama.

In a new video with Bustle, Bell and Brody sat down to discuss their new will-they-won't-they drama, and of course, Gossip Girl came up in conversation.

Bell said: "The funny thing is, as Gossip Girl, I was only on a microphone in Los Angeles, I was never shooting with them.

"I didn't even know where they shot. Where'd they shoot that show?"

Brody is married to Gossip Girl star Leighton Meester, who portrayed popular rich girl Blair Waldorf.

He jokingly replied: "Um, Montreal."

Bell then says: "Okay, first time hearing of it," not picking up on the humour.

Brody then clarifies: "Well, New York."

Realising her mistake, Bell adds: "Oh, New York. You were joking?", leading Brody to quip :"You can see how involved she was."

Bell then says her role as Gossip Girl consisted of getting on the mic and to 'give the sass.'

Where do we sign up?

One person commented: "I’m dying that she believed Montreal."

A second person added: "Not me believing montreal too and ive rewatched gossip girl 100 times."

A third added: "Ahahahahahha but the funny thing is that they shoot a lot of movies [in Montreal] because it looks like NYC and it’s cheaper."

As well as bantering in interviews, Bell and Brody's on-screen chemistry has proven to be irresistible, with Nobody Wants This enjoying huge success with critics and viewers.

Lucy Mangan noted for the Guardian: "Lemme tell you – everybody wants this. It’s the funniest, sweetest, most scabrous, most romantic, most real thing we’ve seen since – well, since Colin from Accounts."

Viewers have been gushing over the series, proclaiming that good romcoms are finally back.

One viewer wrote on X: "They have me giggling and kicking my feet omg romcom girls we are soo back!!!! #NobodyWantsThis."

A second added: "Just finished Nobody Wants This and I immediately need to watch it again. Real romcoms and tv is so back!"
