A Harry Potter fan has revealed they got into an argument with a loved one over the correct way to pronounce 'Dobby'.
Yes, the little elf and Hogwarts kitchen staff member has caused a debate online about the right way to say his name.
A certified Potterhead started a thread on the discussion website Reddit and said: "Help settle an argument between my BF and [I] How do you pronounce Dobby’s name?"

They added: "He swears to god it’s Dough-bee while I say it’s Daw-bee. What do you think??"
Despite Dobby appearing in the Harry Potter films and audio books, people couldn't agree on the pronunciation of 'Dobby'.
"Dobby like Bobby." said one Harry Potter fan.

The original poster of the thread replied: "Exactly that’s what I said".
However one commenter disagreed with both options in the original post. "I'm so confused. It might be my southern American pronunciation but neither of you seem correct," they wrote.
"It's not a long O sound, nor does it make the aw sound as in awful.

"I hear it in the audiobooks and movies as DAH-bee. Rhymes with lobby and hobby.
"Is this not right?"
Similarly, another Reddit user commented: "I can't believe you’re both wrong, bobby with a d."
A shocked fan initially agreed with one of the options in the original post, but eventually changed their mind. "Your BF is right, imo," they said.

They edited their comment to add: "I just [searched] on YouTube for movie references and I just figured out I’ve been pronouncing it wrong for years! OP you are correct"
One concerned fan joked: "Why is this even a question? It's in the movies hahaha did your boyfriend even watch the movies? Lol".
Someone else replied: "And the audio books that’s how it’s pronounced, he’s probably trolling her".
