The film, which has effortlessly brought back the golden age of teen movies, tells the story of Drea (Camila Mendes) and Eleanor (Maya Hawke).
Drea is essentially the Regina George of her high school. She has her life totally together as the It-girl on campus until her sex tape gets leaked to the entire student body - seemingly by her boyfriend Max.

Meanwhile, Eleanor is an awkward new transfer who has just learned that her old bully Carissa, who started a nasty rumour about her at summer camp when she was 13, goes to her new school.
After meeting at tennis camp, the unlikely pair decide to team up to get revenge on their tormentors once and for all
For most viewers, the chemistry between Drea and Eleanor is almost too much to bear, and plenty of fans were hoping to see their friendship develop into something more. But things take an unlikely turn.

All hopes of a romance between Drea and Eleanor were eventually dashed by viewers when they were knocked off their feet by a totally unexpected plot twist.
And if you haven't seen the film yet, this is your last chance to look no further!
It turns out that Eleanor had been working against her co-conspirator the whole time, and had actually been plotting revenge on her new friend Drea.
You see, Drea was Eleanor's childhood bully that summer, not Carissa, and the scorned teen never quite let it go, making for an unbelievable twist.
