Warning: Spoilers ahead for the final season of You
The hit Netflix thriller You came to an end last week, but not without a few final surprises.
And we’re not just talking about the final episode and Joe Goldberg’s fate either. Fans of the show are aware of a character named Bronte, played by Madeline Brewer.

In the fifth and final season, Joe (Penn Badgley) returns to New York and tries his best to embrace his new life with British wife Kate Lockwood (Fresh Meat's Charlotte Ritchie).
But Joe struggles to reconcile his wealthy new life and his sinister secrets, and he soon finds himself heading back to Mooney’s Bookstore where he used to work.
Once there he meets Bronte, the bookstore’s latest employee, and in typical Joe fashion, he can’t help but be enamoured with her.

However, keen TV viewers - particularly those who love gritty Netflix dramas - might recognise Brewer from another popular drama.
And that is none other than prison-set drama Orange is the New Black.
The 32-year-old actress had a recurring role in OITNB as Tricia Miller, a 19-year-old who tragically suffered from a drug addiction.

She died during the first season (episode seven) after overdosing on Oxycontin that a prison guard gave her.
Fans were shocked after realising the connection between You and OITNB, with one Reddit user sharing: "Makeup is crazy [for real] lmao I did not realise I knew so much of Madeline Brewers work."
However, another viewer wrote: "I recognised her immediately lmao."
Although someone else wrote: "OMG I DIDN'T REALISE."

And a fourth user shared: "I feel like Madeline Brewer makes an appearance in half of the stuff I watch. I think she's great."

Brewer also appeared in Netflix’s Hemlock Grove as Miranda Cates, and currently stars in Hulu's The Handmaid’s Tale as Janine Lindo, a role which earned her a Primetime Emmy Award nomination for Outstanding Supporting Actress in a Drama Series in 2021.
So, how does You end?
Advert
Well, Joe ends up in prison for his many crimes and he's seen in the final scene reading letters sent from his supporters while behind bars.
“Why am I in a cage when these crazies write me all the depraved things they want me to do to them?" Joe's voiceover reflects while in prison. "Maybe we have a problem as a society. Maybe we should fix what’s broken in us."
"Maybe the problem isn’t me. Maybe it’s you."
