If you've been watching Pieces of Her on Netflix this week, you'll likely be hooked to its gripping plot and shocking twists.
The series is an adaptation of crime author Karin Slaughter's 2018 best-selling thriller of the same name, and stars Toni Collette as Laura Oliver, a mum with a dark and secretive past that she's been keeping hidden from her 30-year-old daughter, Andy (played by Bella Heathcote).

Viewers are hailing the show for its brilliant acting and shocking plot, but one scene in particular has stunned viewers, who described it as 'disturbing'.
The graphic scene occurs at the start of the movie, when Laura and Andy are out for lunch for Andy's 30th birthday.

And people are horrified by the scene, with one person writing: "Wow the beginning of Pieces of Her, the violence is disturbing bc it feels so realistic. I have goosebumps."

While another said: "*That* opening scene in #PiecesofHer was brutal."
And a third added: "That opening…was the most stressful 10 minutes of my life."
Meanwhile a fourth wrote: "I went into the netflix show 'pieces of her' without even looking at the trailer because it was number 1. It's been like 10 minutes and this show just SLAPPED me."
"I’m literally sitting here speechless with my mouth wide open watching the first 10 minutes of Pieces of Her," said a fifth.

And a sixth added: "Brains are weird. I can watch people get tortured in movies without blinking an eye, but the diner scene at the beginning of Pieces of her made me panic so much I cried."
People were also quick to praise the acting in the scene, with another adding: "The first ten minutes of Pieces of Her is the best opening to a tv show I’ve seen in a long time - Toni Collette is incredible."

The eight-part series dropped on Netflix last week and has been maintaining the top spot all week.
