It may only be January, but we may have already found the best television show of the year.
The Tourist hit our screens on New Year’s Day, but already, people have binge-watched the whole series on BBC iPlayer.
You can watch the trailer below.
The Tourist follows an unnamed man, played by Jamie Dornan, who finds himself with no memory whatsoever after he’s rammed off the road by a pursuing lorry. Stuck in the bleak Australian outback, ‘The Man’ has to figure out who he is, what he’s done and just who’s out to get him.
The drama’s mix of twist, turns and darkly comic humour has made it popular amongst fans, who have devoured the season in one sitting.
And while the whole cast has delivered stellar performances, its Jamie Dornan’s turn as ‘The Man’ that have left fans blown away.
Being able to deliver a killer one-liner as well as a killer blow has made many viewers think that the former model would be an ideal contender to be the next James Bond.
The Tourist is one hell of an audition tape if that’s the case, with people now placing their bets that Dornan could be our next agent.
Taking to Twitter, one person wrote: “Really enjoying #TheTourist. I hope it gets award noms,“I hope it has legs for more seasons. I hope Jamie Dornan's name comes up for Bond.”
A second agreed: “#TheTourist best @BBCOne and @BBCiPlayer drama for a long time. Bonkers but superb. #JamieDornan sneaking on to my potential next Bond list too….”
And a third said: “A terrific central performance from Jamie Dornan. Wouldn’t be surprised if he jumps up the ladder of ‘Bond’ contenders; his work in ‘The Tourist’ is certainly a good showcase for it..”
Daniel Craig quit the role of the iconic international super spy, hanging up his gun holster at the end of 2021’s much-delayed No Time To Die.
Tom Hardy, Regé-Jean Page and Henry Cavill are all front runners for the role – but 50 Shades Of Grey star Dornan may be fast catching up.
The name’s Dornan….Jamie Dornan, perhaps? We like the sound of it…
The Tourist airs Sundays at 9pm on BBC iPlayer and is available to watch as a boxset on iPlayer.
