It turns out there was a very good reason why Keira Knightley wore a hat for her iconic role in Love Actually.
You see, that famous navy paperboy hat that Juliet wears when she goes to visit Mark and see some of her wedding footage wasn't originally part of Knightley's wardrobe.
Keira was just 17 years old when she played Juliet in the beloved Christmas rom-com and, unfortunately, the stunning actress was not immune to teenage problems.

It turns out that the Pirates of the Caribbean star was actually suffering with a rather unfortunate spot that day - smack bang in the middle of her forehead.
Speaking to BBC Radio 1 about the memorable fashion moment, she confessed: "Do you know why the hat was there? I had a massive spot in the middle of my forehead.
"This is the problem with being 17 and being in films. It was humongous. We had to find a hat to cover it. There was no lighting, there was no makeup that was going to cover it."

Dealing with a painful pimple is bad enough as it is when you're a teenager - I can only imagine how much worse it would be on the set of blockbuster film.
"It’s funny how you just remember extreme embarrassment," she continued.
"I remember coming in in the morning, being like, ‘Oh wow, I’ve got another head on my head. What are we going to do?’
"There’s nothing we can do about this. But there is, because you can always put a hat over it!”

Little did Keira or the wardrobe team know at the time, that that hat would go on to become one of the actress's most iconic looks in her career.
“I was actually very grateful for that hat," Knightley concluded. “I have a lifetime of gratitude for that hat."
Another fact you might not have known about Keira's Love Actually character is that Juliet was actually an interior decorator - which was news to absolutely everyone.

Director Richard Curtis said he was 'hurt' that fans didn't know after his daughter Scarlett asked her followers if anyone had a clue what Juliet's job was.
In a video posted to Instagram, Curtis explained that he thought it was pretty obvious, considering the set design.
He said: "I think it's very clear from the set design, whilst she's making the phone call to Andrew Lincoln, that she has worked for quite a long time as an interior decorator."

Don't be too upset if you didn't know this one, though, as it sounds like Richard didn't put much thought into it himself.
"Everyone panicked and said, 'What kind of a room is she going to be making the phone call from?' And I said, 'Well, how about, like, maybe she's an interior decorator, and so there's lots of swatches and some paint colours'."
Oh well. I guess I'll just have to watch this movie for the one millionth time to see for myself.
