Davina McCall is set to undergo a brain operation after medical professionals discovered a ‘very rare’ benign brain tumour.
In a pre-recorded video posted to her Instagram account on Friday (15 November), the former Big Brother host, 57, announced she’d recently undergone a complimentary health scan.
Despite believing she was going to ‘ace’ it, doctors informed her of a benign brain tumour which would require surgery to remove.
Taking to social media to reveal her recent diagnosis, Davina said: “Hi, so I’m posting this it will be Friday morning. I’m posting it because a few months ago I did a menopause talk for a company and they offered me a health scan in return, which I thought I was going to ace, but it turned out I had a benign brain tumour called a colloid cyst, which is very rare.

“Three in a million! So I slightly put my head in the sand for a while, and then I saw quite a few neurosurgeons, I got lots of opinions. I realised that I have to get it taken out.”
The fitness guru explained that the tumour is currently 14mm wide and has been advised to undergo surgery because if it grows anymore ‘it would be bad’.
"It will be removed via a craniotomy - they go through the top of my head here, and through the two halves of my brain to the middle, get the cyst, empty it, take it out, and Bob’s your uncle,” she said. “So say a prayer for me. I am in good spirits.”

The video also featured her partner, Michael Douglas, who assured fans he would have his ‘eye on’ the TV veteran throughout her procedure, joking that he actually offered to do the operation himself.
“They wouldn’t let me. She’s in very good hands,” Michael confessed.
Unfortunately, Davina revealed she’s in for a lengthy recovery process and is unlikely to deliver any updates to her 1.8 million Instagram followers.
Instead, she has enlisted her beau to keep fans informed on her health plight.

“He’s going to let you guys know how I’m doing. But I don’t want you to worry about me, I’m doing that enough as it is,” the mother-of-three explained.
“I’m in a good space and I have all the faith in the world in my surgeon and his team, and I am handing the reins over to him. He knows what he’s doing, and I’m gonna do the getting better bit after."
Famous faces have since come out in droves to send Davina a wave of support, with former Pop Idol judge Nicki Chapman writing: “You and I have chatted about this day… you are in amazing hands with your surgeon and the team.
