A legendary Ugly Betty star has been cast in the Devil Wears Prada musical as the iconic Miranda Priestly, and we cannot WAIT to see them in action as the world’s favourite – but most frightening – fashion boss. Gird your loins!!
Find out who’ll be stepping into the stilettos below:
The new musical is based on the 2006 movie of the same name starring Anne Hathaway – in turn an adaptation of the 2003 novel by Lauren Weisberger – which followed college grad and aspiring journalist Andrea ‘Andy’ Sachs, as she accepts a job as the co-assistant of formidable fashion magazine editor Miranda Priestley.

The story has been turned into an all-singing, all-dancing production featuring an original score from none other than Elton John, with three-time Tony Award-winning choreographer Jerry Mitchell (Kinky Boots, Legally Blonde, Pretty Woman, Hairspray) on board to direct and choreograph the show.
The musical will open at the Dominion Theatre in London's West End this October, promising to be ‘hilariously fun and fabulously stylish’.
And with excitement mounting, it’s now been revealed who will be playing Miranda Priestly, who was played in the film by Meryl Streep.

Don’t worry, we’ve got someone who’s already earned her chops in the fictional fashion industry, having previously played Wilhemina Slater in Ugly Betty.
Yep, the incredible Vanessa Williams has confirmed she’s joined the cast, posting a video on Instagram to share the news with fans.
“That’s All… now buy some tickets to @pradawestend,” the caption said.

The video showed Williams strutting her stuff to her desk, before sitting down and removing her sunglasses.
She then turned to the camera, saying: “Don’t just sit there... Buy tickets, or something.”
Many people were thrilled by the news, with one commenting: “I'm dying, dead , deceased , buried and resurrected ... queen!!!!”

Someone else wrote: “The best casting EVER.”
Broadway star Ariana De Bose added: “Wait - this is actually BRILLIANT.”
Others admitted they’d been convinced the video was announcing something else, but were delighted all the same.
“Omggg... I thought we were getting an Ugly Betty Spin-off for a hit second,” one said, with another writing: “I was like is Wilhelmina back with her own show on how she became who she is now. Lol that would be awesome though lol.”
