Jennifer Lopez makes major request after filing to divorce Ben Affleck

After filing for divorce from her actor husband Ben Affleck, Jennifer Lopez has made a follow-up request to Los Angeles County Superior Court about how she now wants to be addressed.

News of the couple's split hit headlines earlier this week (21 August), following months of speculation over the status of the Hollywood duo's relationship.

Back in July this year, a source told the Daily Mail that the pair - who'd previously dated back in the early noughties before rekindling in 2022 - had 'finalised the divorce papers' a month prior, but were 'waiting for the right time to drop them'.

"At that time, they will release a joint statement that will say how they have much love for each other and how they fought to make it work, but couldn’t."

As per court documents obtained by the BBC on Tuesday, the 'Jenny From The Block' singer made the decision to legally end their marriage, two years to the date of the second wedding ceremony in Georgia, following an initial Las Vegas soiree.

Fans of the now exes have been curious to know the ins and outs of what happens when married celebrities call it a day.

And by the sounds of things, J. Lo, 55, has today answered a question that's been on everybody's lips this week - what will happen to her name after she took 'Affeck' when they exchanged vows?

Well, according to USA Today - who claim to have reviewed the musician's divorce filing - she has filed an official request to revert back to her maiden name.

If granted, she'll henceforth be known - once again - as 'Jennifer Lynn Lopez'.

Tyla has contacted Jennifer and Ben's respective representatives for comment.

The now-exes tied the knot back in 2022 after almost two decades apart, having first gone their separate ways in 2004.

While musician Lopez went on to marry three times - including to her long-time pal Marc Anthony, with whom she welcomed twins - Affleck wed Jennifer Garner, with the couple welcoming three children of their own.

Fans were delighted back in 2022, therefore, when it was revealed that Jennifer and Ben, now 51, had rekindled their love.

And though they went on to tie the knot, it wasn't long before cracks started showing in their newly-reunited romance.

Earlier this year, mother-of-two Jennifer was seen holidaying separately from her hubby, and opted not to wear her wedding ring on 4th of July weekend, which she also spent alone.

Last month, the couple were also reported to have put their 12-bedroom, 24-bathroom California mansion on the market for $68,000,000.

And back in June, fans noticed that Affleck wasn't in attendance for the premiere of his wife's Netflix movie Atlas in Mexico - where she sensationally responded directly to divorce rumours when asked by a reporter.

"You know better than that," she warned at the time.
