Kim Kardashian makes rare comment about divorce from Kanye West as she reflects on one challenge

Kim and Khloé had a heart-to-heart about the end of their marriages in the most recent episode of The Kardashians

Kim Kardashian has given fans an insight into her divorce from Kanye West.

The former couple tied the knot in 2014 and together, they share four children; North, 11, Saint, nine, Chicago, seven, and five-year-old Psalm.

Kim filed for divorce in February 2021 amid strains in their relationship, and their legal split was finalised in November the following year.

In the latest episode of the family’s reality show The Kardashians, Khloé gives Kim and mum Kris Jenner the lowdown on her emotional reunion with ex-husband Lamar Odom after not seeing him for nine years, which prompts Kim to share her own insight into her past marriage.

“That was the love of my life. And if it wasn’t for drugs, I know we would still be married 'til today," Khloé shared. "I know I picked the right person at that time. None of us knew he was on drugs until it was at least a year in. That’s what was so terrifying."

“That’s the hardest part. I’ve been there,” Kim said. “When you don’t foresee something happening that really changes a person’s personality and then they’re not the same person and you can’t ever get that person back, but you can’t live with the new person. I get it."

Kim continued reflecting in a confessional.

“It’s tougher when you don’t want your marriage to end off of personal reasons but circumstances change that force your marriage to end", she shared.

She added: “When you weren’t planning on that and that’s not really the outcome you want but there’s no other option, I think it makes it harder to get over."

Tensions arose in Kim and Kanye’s marriage as the rapper struggled with bipolar disorder. He also decided to launch a dubious presidential campaign in 2020. The SKKN founder first discussed the diagnosis on Instagram that same year.

"I've never spoken publicly about how this has affected us at home because I am very protective of our children and Kanye's right to privacy when it comes to his health," she said.

“I kindly ask that the media and public give us the compassion and empathy that is needed so that we can get through this."

She also described her Kanye as a ‘brilliant but complicated person’.

More recently, Kanye - who is now married to Bianca Censori - went on a tirade on X which included antisemitic posts. Other tweets made by the 'Famous' rapper mocked singer Cassie's domestic abuse at the hands of Diddy, who is currently being held at the Metropolitan Detention Center in Brooklyn for sex trafficking charges, and used terms derogatory to the LGBTQ+ community.
