Tristan Thompson became his younger brother's official guardian in 2023 as the 18-year-old suffers with a rare form of epilepsy.
The Kardashian/Jenner family came together to celebrate Amari's 18th birthday in the most recent episode of The Kardashians.
The teen has a severe form of epilepsy known as Lennox-Gastaut syndrome, meaning that he is confined to his wheelchair and cannot live independently.

During an interview in the episode, Kim, who was invited to the party along with her children, admitted that her kids have a 'lot of questions' when it comes to Amari’s disability, remarking they 'might not be the most comfortable’ around him.
Viewers were furious after seeing a clip in which she asked Chicago, her seven-year-old daughter, whether she was 'scared' of Amari.
“There’s no need to be,” she continued. “But it’s okay if you are.”
One user on social media branded the question as 'tone-deaf', as another said: "Exploiting a child with epilepsy and dragging him in front of a camera just to have a storyline for your dumb show is vile. I truly hate this family."

Tristan Thompson, who shares two children with Khloe Kardashian, is Amari's legal guardian, but it has only been that way for the past two years, after a tragic event in their family.
In September 2023, their mother, Andrea Thompson, died at her home in Toronto following a sudden heart attack.
Tristan was firstly made a temporary guardian to his younger brother, but later applied to the courts to be Amari's full-time and official caregiver.

In court documents, which would allow him to become Amari's legal guardian, Tristan said: "[I want] to ensure that Amari continues to have a happy and fulfilling life and to provide him with the best care possible."
He noted that having him as his guardian 'would be in his best interest because it would ensure that someone would be responsible for providing and fulfilling his basic needs.'
Khloé Kardashian, who co-parents two children with basketball player Tristan, admitted that her children - True and Tatum - are ‘much more exposed’ to Amari than some of the other Kardashian/Jenner clan.

She said: "True’s more concerned than frightened of Amari, but I do think it’s important for our kids and everyone’s kids to be exposed to all different types of people.
"Amari has never and will never be a burden or anything like that.
"Amari is one of the most special souls I have ever met."
