Madonna has revealed a major update in her longtime feud with Elton John, after visiting him backstage at Saturday Night Live.
The deep-rooted beef between Elton John and Madonna dates back quite a few decades, after the Rocket Man accused the artist of lip-syncing during her shows.
So when Madonna heard that the 78-year-old was in New York to perform as the music guest on SNL, she went to attend and 'confront' the star face-to-face.

Back in 2004, after years of Elton accusing Madonna of lip syncing, her team was forced to release a statement which noted that she does not 'spend her time trashing other artists'.
But it seems the two have finally squashed the beef, after Madonna posted a sweet picture of the pair on Instagram, coupled with a heartfelt caption.
Writing about the feud, she said: "Over the decades it hurt me to know that someone I admired so much shared his dislike of me publicly as an artist.

"I didn’t understand it."

However, it seems that they were able to leave the beef in the past.
"We finally buried the hatchet," she wrote.

"I was told Elton John was the musical guest on SNL and I decided to go.
"I needed to go backstage and confront him. When I met him, the first thing out of his mouth was, 'forgive me' and the wall between us fell down.
"Forgiveness is a powerful tool. Within minutes. We were hugging."
The star then added that Elton has written a song for her to collaborate with him on, and that things felt very 'full circle' between the two.

The 'Your Song' creator left an equally wholesome reply in the comments, in which he apologised for his prior comments.
He said: "Thank you for coming to see me at SNL."

"And thank you for forgiving me and my big mouth. I’m not proud of what I said."

The star praised Madonna for the 'groundbreaking' work she has done as an artist, 'paving the way for an entire generation of female artists to succeed'.
He added: "Both you and I have wholeheartedly been accepted and embraced by communities who are under threat around the world.
"By pulling together, I’m hopeful that we can make great things happen for those who really need support."
Fans in the comments were overjoyed by the reconciliation, as one joked: "This is like 1990 and the end of the Cold War all over again."
Another added: "Literally the modern day Treaty of Versailles."
