As well as his Oscar-winning on-screen talent, any fan of Kieran Culkin knows by now that the actor is famed across the globe for his authentic unpredictability.
So, when Robert Downey Jr announced his name as the Best Supporting Actor following his performance alongside Jesse Eisenberg in A Real Pain, and the 42-year-old took to the stage, we knew we were in for a rollercoaster.
Culkin this year went up against nominees Yura Borisov for Anora, Edward Norton for A Complete Unknown, Guy Pearce for The Brutalist and his Succession co-star Jeremy Strong for his role in The Apprentice.

Whilst reflecting on his victory tonight (2 Mar), the winner ended his speech by giving a special shout-out to his wife Jazz, revealing a promise she once made to him about what might happen if he ever bags a golden statuette.
And let's just say, viewers absolutely did not see his speech coming.
"I love you Jazz," Culkin gushed. "I have to thank my wife Jazz for absolutely everything, for giving me my favorite people in the world."

He went on to plead: "Please don't play the music because I want to tell a really quick story about Jazz."
The actor then explained: "About a year ago, I was on a stage like this, and I very stupidly publicly said that I want a third kid from her, because she said if I won the award, she would give me the kid."
The father-of-two referred here to the speech he famously made at the 2023 Emmys, where he bagged an accolade for his role in Succession.
"It turns out she said that because she didn't think I was gonna win," Culkin continued.

"People came up to her and were like really annoying her. I think it got to her. But anyway, after the show, we're walking through a parking lot.
"She's holding the Emmy. We're trying to find our car."
Giving someone a shout-out from home, he added: "Emily, you were there so you're a witness, and she goes, 'Oh, God, I did say that. I guess I owe you a third kid.' And I turned to her, and I said, 'Really, I want four.'"
The audience then burst into laughter, before the Academy Award-winner went on to recall: "And she turned to me, I swear to God, this happened. It was just over a year ago. She said, 'I will give you four when you win an Oscar.'

"I held my hand out. She took it, and I have not brought it up once, until just now. You remember that, honey, you do?"

After the camera then panned to Jazz - sitting in the audience smiling - Culkin continued: "Okay, then I just have this to say to you, Jazz, love of my life…No pressure. I love you.
"I'm really sorry I did this again, and let's get cracking on those kids. What do you say?"

Despite the laughter, Jazz appeared to be shaking her head and declining her husband's offer.
Guess we'll have to keep our eyes on this one...
