Timothée Chalamet makes major blunder while presenting SAG Awards

Chalamet took home the Outstanding Performance by a Male Actor in a Leading Role award for A Complete Unknown

The 31st annual SAG Awards took place in Los Angeles on Sunday (23 February) and it's safe to say there were a number of stand-out moments from the evening.

From Harrison Ford's side-splitting crisp fiasco and Kieran Culkin's hilarious Adrien Brody roast all the way through to Selena Gomez's shocking eight-word reaction to winning an unexpected award - it's clear that fans were absolutely spoilt rotten with entertaining celebrity moments when it came to the star-studded event.

One of which saw Timothée Chalamet make quite the blunder while presenting his Bob Dylan biopic drama, A Complete Unknown, alongside costars Edward Norton, Monica Barbaro and Elle Fanning.

The 29-year-old actor stumbled over his words during the speech, as he told the audience: "As David Lynch once said about Bob Dylan, he tapped into some kind of vein and he keeps on keeping on."

Chalamet then paused for a moment of silence in which none of his other three costars spoke, prompting him to realise it was still his turn to talk.

He then laughed with the audience as he acknowledged that he 'should have done a rehearsal' ahead of the night.

"A Complete Unknown traces that vein - should have done a rehearsal - that vein back to Greenwich Village, where the story of rock's legendary poet begins," he concluded.

Chalamet took home the Outstanding Performance by a Male Actor in a Leading Role award beating out Adrien Brody for his role in The Brutalist, Daniel Craig for Queer, Colman Domingo for Sing Sing and Ralph Fiennes for Conclave.

A Complete Unknown and its cast were up for three other nominations during the awards ceremony including; Outstanding Performance by a Cast in a Motion Picture, Norton for Outstanding Performance by a Male Actor in a Supporting Role and Barbaro for Outstanding Performance by a Female Actor in a Supporting Role.

Elsewhere in the evening, Chalamet surprised fans with an unexpected acceptance speech.

Standing on stage, the Call Me By Your Name star said: "I know the classiest thing would be to downplay the effort that went into this role, and how much this means to me. But the truth is, I'm really in pursuit of greatness."

He gave special mention to those who inspired him, as he added: "I know people don't usually talk like that, but I want to be one of the greats, I'm inspired by the greats.

"I'm inspired by the greats here tonight.

"I'm as inspired by Daniel Day Lewis, Marlon Brando and Viola Davis, as I am by Michael Jordan and Michael Phelps. And I want to be up there.

"So I'm deeply grateful to that."

The A-lister then concluded: "This doesn't signify that but it's a little more fuel, it's a little more ammo to keep going.

"Thank you so much."
