When Selena Gomez shared a video crying over one of Donald Trump's executive orders, it wasn't too long before the singer deleted the clip.
In the video, which was posted to Instagram on Monday afternoon (27 January), Gomez could be seen sobbing at the news that Trump plans to deport millions of immigrants. Take a look below:
In the video, Gomez explained: "All my people are getting attacked, the children.

"... I don’t understand. I’m so sorry, I wish I could do something but I can’t. I don’t know what to do. I’ll try everything, I promise."
After removing the video, Gomez shared a statement explaining: "Apparently it’s not ok to show empathy for people."
Since Trump was inaugurated on 20 January, he's wasted no time in signing off a number of executive orders and changes, including 'the largest deportation in American history'.
One executive order suspended the entry of undocumented migrants to the US under any circumstances, claiming that those who do make it to US soil 'are restricted from invoking' provisions like asylum.

Another has restarted the 'Remain in Mexico' programme, which requires non-Mexican asylum seekers to await their US hearing dates inside Mexican territory.
According to a source speaking to Dailymail.com, Gomez allegedly deleted the video so as not to 'alienate' her followers who are also Republicans.
"She realizes that she cannot go up against a Republican backed nation - many of whom are loyal customers of her Rare Beauty brand," said the source.

"She does not wish to alienate. She is going to stay out of politics and in her own lane after that drama."
The source claimed that Selena thought she was being 'helpful' posting the clip.
"Selena thought that she was being authentic and helpful with her video but in retrospect, she realises that it could have been more powerful without the tears," they added.
"The tears showed weakness and that is not what she intended.

"She is very passionate and after seeing critics calling for her to help by donating some of her millions to enrich the lives of immigrants in their home countries, she realised that she could never win.
"She only wants people to see that most Americans are descended from immigrants. Many people are citizens because their ancestors chose to come here whether documented or not."
The latest legislation forms part of the Republican president's newly-announced plans to 'halt' all 'illegal entry' into the US as part of a 'complete restoration of America'.

Trump said: "We will begin the process of returning millions and millions of criminal aliens back to the places from which they came."
The new president has said that migrants accused of crimes will be the first targets of the policy, but that all migrants illegally on US soil could also be subject to deportation.
